What do you love most about your Marauder?

I cannot give you one reason sorry, here are the reasons.

Ever since I started liking cars, I always liked older cars. Even at 6 years old, I was more attracted to a Chevy Bel Air than a modern Camaro. I knew cars had gotten safer and more dependable with time (as they should) but felt like all style had been lost for cookie cutter potato cars. The Marauder not only had older full size style, it was a bit different.

Huge exhaust pipes, V8, RWD... a lot that was lost for modern cars in 2002. This car was everything I wished the modern automobile could be, especially a style that was not exactly friendly looking.

People at car shows always had a car for their generation, something that was new when you were a teenager. The baby boomers had their Galaxy 500s, Impalas and The Beach Boys.... what was popular then. What did we have? FWD 4 cylinder Camery's and Blink 182.... no thanks, actually, screw the norm. The norm is safe and boring. The Marauder was a throwback to when cars were fun from the factory, made heads turn and could strike up a conversation at the gas station. Since the Marauder was not well known, only hardcore gearheads knew what it was. To this day it almost seems that way. There was a Marauder commercial I remember that said "Put the petal down and forget what year it is." Perfect for me, but not everyone felt that way. Most people are accepting of what marketeers have been spoon feeding people to buy.

One of the best parts was the people you met because of it. Likeminded people who felt the same way or close to that extent. Instead of cruising alone, we now have groups of people to meet up with.

I'll never replace the car, ever. Nothing could have been more opposite of what was going on at the time and to this day. You can keep your hybrids, I'd rather spend more money on gas and enjoy my journey.

I was looking at an impala ss and marauders. I wasn't really a ford guy. I went with the marauder because it was more rare and the interior is nicer than the impala.

but.. I'll probably get a low milage impala in a few years.

Man I have always loved the chromed Cragar rims look on any car. When I saw the chrome looking Marauder rims and the attitude stance it had that was it for me :).

Now if they only had made a convertible like they showed at the Auto Show, I know it would have blown the roof off the market.

I love it because its not a Chebby or Don't Operate Don't Go Ever(Dodge) I'm FoMoCo blue oval all the way. Its sinister looking with the front fascia/w foglights, Mach 1 chin spoiler and the trunk spoiler. The 4.6 4V engine/ dual exhaust, the bucket seats w/ floor shifter & leather interior the people that know what it is stare at it and want one and the people that don't know what it is ask about it and possibly then want one. And last but not least IT RUNS HARD TO BE A BIG A$$ CAR LIKE IT IS.

I like my cup holders the best. And the radio is nice too. I think it's a great vehicle. The end.

sent from a Samsung Galaxy far far away..

Its simplicity, reliability, and style. My wife and I still get compliments on this car when gassing up.

It's hard to say what I like MOST, because I love almost everything about my Marauder! :2thumbs: The performance, comfort, looks etc. Especially now with the new paint. I feel like I am driving a new car! :D One of the best cars I have ever owned!

Did you repaint or wetsand

Honestly this goes for mine and and all other Marauders out there I just love how they look.

^^^Yes^^^.

While still the profile of a CV or GM, there's something about a Marauder's stance and overall look that still gets me - Even seeing those fogs coming at me from a distance.

Also, that (as well as the sound on startup and their rarity) I never thought that I'd be able to afford one.

So many reasons, not to mention, MM.net. :bows::beer:

I caught a glimpse of the front of one back in 2006 when I was stationed in Mass. It was a SB, and in the 1.4 seconds that I actually saw it, I wanted it. I didn't know what it was, but did recognize the Mercury symbol via the grill badge. As soon as I got home, I jumped on the internet to find out what kind of car it was. The vehicle I owned at that time was a Jetta VR6; it was lots of fun to drive, but I had been driving it for 6 years and was wanting a different, bigger car; it was also black and I was wanting a silver car. Back then, a used MM was going for low/mid 20K....too much. Looked at a silver Lincoln LS V8 and was ready to buy, but the dealer tried to low-ball me on my car, so I walked....turned out to be a very good thing.

Fast forward 5 years (still driving the VR6) and I have a small window of opportunity to buy one. I jump on it, flying out from Charleston, SC to Albuquerque, NM and driving it back. I paid for it in full before I had a chance to look at it in person...I consider myself lucky, as I've had no issues with the car and I've put almost 70K miles on it since I drove it home. It needed new tires and rotors immediately, but that was all.

Now that I've owned my MM for almost 3 years (March 8th), hands down I would say the friends I have made and the meets I have gone to are the best part about the car.

It is different than the rest and does not draw the wrong type of attention.

Another big reason, it is a big 4 door sedan that was made in limited numbers and has a cult following. Before this, SHO's and Merkurs.
