Not really... When the engine is cold it makes no noise at all. After it warms up the tap is there at idle. Once the engine is tapping you can make it kinda go away when driving by playing with throttle position (like a little more throttle can make it quieter). The tap becomes very noticeable...

Yup. The stock volt meter is a real working gauge where as the oil pressure is just an idiot light (if the engine has at least 6psi then the gauge shows 60psi).
