To their own employees?
He gets a discount, should be slightly above cost.
I just hate how the majority of dealership mechanics only swap parts instead of actually solving problems.
It's an '04 explorer. Only worth a few thousand. Fix it cheap and send it.
Forget the welder. Same job could...
With pressure on the puller, apply impact to the pitman arm, perpendicular to the shaft if access is available.
Be careful with heat, can radiate up the shaft and melt the seal.
Air hammers work wonders. Have had several extra tough pitman arms which required pullers and some persuasion from...
Interesting story. Didn't realize it got that hot up in your neck of the woods.
Did the exhaust on stepdads exploder today(technically yesterday).
Needed muffler and tailpipe. Dealership quoted 11-1300$(and he works there).
"Well, the flange for the muffler pipe is bad and it will need the y...
Bob makes a good point. Got my car not running, fiddled with the chip and it runs. Now, if someone would stop being lazy and put the good trans in it could go back to marking its territory.
Do you have access to a decent scanner?
Did a radiator, thermostat, and hoses on a customer's aviator. Naturally did a test drive afterward. Not a bad little vehicle. Would be cool if it were supercharged. Wonder if there's any out there that are. Will add to my lottery list.
Definitely way better than my stepfather's v6 exploder.
Was tons of fun. :banghead:
Took some creative prying and a little hammering to get it out. It's definitely getting a good shave before going back in. Let me know if you need a hand when the time comes.
Finally got my broken trans out.
Wonder how long it will take to put the "new" one in.
If you have the option, don't buy a rusty marauder.
Time for dinner and a shower.
Got my LCM and EATC back from Mr fastblackmerc.
Excellent work and service. Most of you already know that.
Reinstalled. Found more junk from the previous owner under the front seats.
They all start that fast when everything is working correctly.
Interstates suck. I've seen lots of them go to bad long before they should.
Deka is my preferred brand. 2nd choice is napa(which are deka batteries with napa stickers and accompanying markup. In my area anyway, don't know about...
Had the same problem. I took the switch apart cleaned/ adjusted the contacts and it's been fine.
Could also be the window motor, regulator, or a wiring issue.
Do the interior lights dim when you operate the switch?
Interesting choice.
Unfortunately, I've never heard one of them run, or even seen one in person.
I find it interesting that peak horsepower was achieved at 102rpms.
Small hint. I fix trucks. My favorite is in a truck.
I believe that the coils have constant power and are triggered by ground through the ecu. I would check for power at the coil connectors. Could be a rubbed or broken wire causing low or no volts to coils. Unlikely that all the injectors stuck on 1 bank at the same time.
Would a bad cam sensor...
Me neither. But that's how my life worked out. Started out as a welder and ended up being a mechanic. There's a shortage of mechanics that can actually fix things in my area.
Hard to say no when there's bills to pay.
7.3s are the ****. My service truck had an incredibly rough life with...
Check the connectors at the FICM, the clips break and the connector loosens up because it goes in the underside of the module. It's possible to get some long zip ties around the module to keep them tight. Can also wedge some pieces of heater hose underneath the connector. Some people replace the...
