If you can live without the car for quite a while. Send it to Dallas,GA..MO's Speed Shop..Marty Ochs. He doesn't frequent here, but is the go to shop for Marauder. They know them inside and out. Mine has been there twice and I'm 680 miles away.
That is them, Marty Ochs recommended them to me. They provided about 70 pics, 10 page report and verbal appraisal. Call a local Chevy dealer in that area, they may have an appraiser they use.
Nothing wrong with building every aspect with quality parts...or so it's ready for more boost. Just have seen countless posts of budgets of $X dollars, you even mentioned $. You can build it for where you're going towards or build it based on a dollar figure. They both have their merits.
They are good for alot of miles..porting helps it run more efficient with less air friction (heat) it has to come apart to port so no sense in reusing bearings..Mine was ported with like 35k miles on it, rebuilt and powder coated. I have 2.8 upper and 4lb lower..killer Chiller, 17-19 lbs at...
I haven't checked actual vent temp inside when AC on, but IIRC temp coming out vent is like 5-7 degrees warmer than if no killer Chiller. Should have your blower ported while out of car.. rebuilt too. Just don't recommend Jon Bond performance in Iowa..Use Steigemeier in Missouri.
