To save money I replaced just the guides and tensioners this weekend. Ordered everything from Summit 4 guides 2 hydraulic tensioners for 171. My old guides were worn down to the metal. The new guides helped with the light throttle rattle but not 100%. I still have the rattle at start up but that...
I'd like to see these items go to someone who can use them. They are taking up space and need to go from my bench. Get them soon or the trash can will.
I put a MM motor in my Mach 1. Has this same sound at start up but also has a tick at low steady cruzing RPM. I can let off or give more throttle and it goes away. Everything I read says its the timing guides and tensioners. I hope it is because I am getting ready to drop 400+ on a timing set...
Wow. Can't believe I forgot to mention 03-04 Mach1.
I thought the 99-01 Cobra's had B heads? No.
Edit: Did more reading on the 99-01 Cobra. They have C heads.
It bolts to the side of the block. The oil filter screws on to it, and the radiator hose connects to it. I only know it by the name of oil filter adapter.
Sorry. Gotta be blunt and truthful. Feeler is nothing more but searching for someone to over pay for something that you are already aware of that does not have the value you would like. You can't be wishy-washy about selling something. If you "really" want to sell it. Set a price that is...
I have one from a 03 88k. Hadn't thought about selling it until I saw your thread. I used a MM motor in my Mach1 so I used my Mach1 pan and pickup and have the MM pan and pickup on the trashed motor that came out of my Mach1.
You need what is known as a "C" head. As far as I know it is:
LINCOLN AVIATOR 4.6 DOHC 03-05
MUSTANG COBRA 4.6 03-04
Mercury Marauder 4.6 DOHC 03-04
Some have 4 thread spark plug holes, but somewhere in 03-04 Ford changed to 9 thread. Not a huge deal about the threads really.
I have a few more parts left over from the 03 Mercury Marauder engine and trans I bought to use in my 03 Mach1. All parts came from a 03 MM with 88k. All prices include PP fee's, shipping to the lower 48 states, and are negotiable.
Belt tensioner no pulley Has been painted black $20 (((Given...
I try to get it right the first time too. That's why I asked for a factory length measurement. I guess Mercury never listed it for a 03 Marauder. Any Google search comes up with the Length for a Mustang but long is the most technical length I can find for the rest.
