res delete tips installed

update

I too just ordered a set. Is there any advice on what I should tell the installers to do since I would like to keep the originals ready for future use? How much should the installation cost?

By the way, I have the Flowmaster Delta-Flow 40’s. The sound is much better than stock with absolutely no cabin drown. I ordered these delete tips because I want an even more aggressive sound but I am fearful about an annoying and constant cabin drown since I mostly do highway driving.

Any advice/ opinions if these delete tips with the Delta-Flows will cause a cabin drown. If yes, is there a way to minimize it?

Thanks in advance guys. Man I love this site and the people who take their time to help the rest of us.
Well, I have had the res. delete tips installed and (thanks to the advice of the members on this site) extended so that the Megs label can be read. I want to thank Wes for being such a great vendor to this site.

Now to the review: I had the Flowmaster Stainless Steel Delta Flow 40's installed on the car because it is way to quite stock. Made a night and day difference in my opinion but still just a bit to quite on WOT. After installing these res delete tips the car is much louder especially at lower speeds. There is also cabin drown but again only in the lower speeds. On the Highway they are fine and dandy (I literally forget that I have them on until I get to much lower speeds again). Overall I am very happy with the purchase and would do it all over again in a heart beat. The only problem is, and I am not joking about this, is that my miles per gallon have dropped dramatically. I have lost about 60 miles per tank since this upgrade. I love the sound of the Marauder so much now that I stay on the gas much more then I need to just so that I can hear the beautiful sound of the exhaust. I really try to remind myself to get off the gas a little but hey you cannot have the cake and eat it to. :D

All you need to do to side-step the "drone" is avoid 1800-2200 RPMs while driving around town. No worries...Once you grow into EEC tuning, whether it be SCT, or, Diablo, you'll get a chance to retune your OEM tranny shift program. This will allow you to reshuffle the "overdrive" and "torque converter lock-up" schedules, and you will learn that you can adjust your "driving around town" tranny shift schedules, and RPMs. Once you do, you'll find the "drone" gone. Until then, just shut off the "OD" while cruising Main Street.

Res-Tips Installed!

Well Today in the mail I recieved My Shiny new Res-Delete Tips! Right After Work I headed out to my My Favorite Exhaust Shop and had them Installed. for you NY guys, American Muffler on Old Country Road in Westbury is by far in my opinion the Best Place to go. My Marauder was taken Right away, They Promptly Cut off my old Tips, Added a little Extension Pipe to Bring the Tip FLush With the Bottom Lip of the Bumper cover, (Im not a big Fan of having the tips Stick Out, I like a nice Clean and Tight Look to the rear of the Car) They Even made me a new Mounting Braket instead of Cutting the old one Off the OEM tip. Well 15 minutes and $25 Later I Started the Car and I Said Out Loud "WOW"! I finally can hear what the Mufflers were meant to sound like! The engine sounds like it gained a few more Cubes with the New Tips installed. At Idle I have a Nice Mellow Rumble, While Cruising, There is a definate noticable Drone in the car, At Full Throttle, It lets out a Very Throaty Roar! At some points the Car seems Quieter, like just crusing at 65-75mph, however, In Traffic, The Drone is rather loud, Even with the Windows Closed.

Bottom Line, Im happy with this Mod, I really like the sound and the overall tone of the engine, but If you are not a fan of Drone, Then this is not for you!

Complete Misunderstanding Me

I think I'm probably the "only one negative"...etc...:shake:
If I may...Let me say that The product (megs) and Wes are both of top notch quality...

While I didn't do EXACTLY this ... it's close.
The only one & negative thing ever said was a COMPLETE mis-understanding which had NOTHING to do with the product itself NOR Wes ... & this person has since stepped up to the plate & fully accepted the confusion as ignorance on their part.

Guys...this is great advice. I find this to be true myself. As my car shifts through the gears, there are certian rpm bands that pick up the drone. If you're cruising at a constant speed, feather back the throttle a bit, and you'll find that your drone disappears. If you're still accelerating, wait until the droning rpms pass by, and it'll go right away. I have flowmaster 40's which are supposed to be the "loud" mufflers, and the megs tips as well...so if anyones going to have a drone problem, it's me. I can cruise on the highway at 65, and not even notice anything is done to my exhaust. But, I can also cruise down the neighborhood street at 30, and people can hear me coming a mile away. It's all in how you control the pedal.

Sorry for my ignorance, but my marauder is also too quiet for my tastes, but I'm not sure what the drone talk is about. When I drove it home from Denver, I noticed that it had what sounded like an axle whine at about 40-50 mph thru the twisties of Utah. Could that be the drone you guys are talking about? BTW, the exhaust is stock.

No...Drone is a low frequency resonance in the cabin, in our case from modified exhausts.

No offense but I kinda like drone...

In my Mustang I'll keep it at 2000rpms sometimes b/c that's when the flowmasters I have are the loudest. :)

I can understand in the MM drone might not always be welcome. Gordon (Haggis) has the great solution of welding on flanges that allow you to swap between the two tips - cuase sometimes you don't want drone.

For me alone in my car though, give me drone in an RPM range and I'm happy, if I don't like it in the Mustang I just down or upshift accordingly. :)
