would 255/45/18 work with 255/55/18?

There is a close-out on Firestone Wide-Ovals at Tire rack. Would 255/45/18 work with my nearly new 255/55/18 Nitto 420s?

New to the Marauder, so need to ask question

Thanks
Dan

Yes they will. They might rub at full turn, but who cares

Looking at potential of 255/45/18 on Front with existing 255/55/18 on the rear. 2003 Marauder

OK, so no problem with traction control.

As Zack said you'll probably have a problem with rubbing at full lock. You can go up to 245/55 in the front with no rubbing.

If you have Traction Control on your MM, its best to verify the tire height (or Revs per Mile) based on your specific tires. The 2003 MM 300B's came with Traction Control (build dates of October 2002 or later).

Based on my calculations, that combo may be marginally above the accepted range (2-6%) for tire differences rear to front. If so, you will have to turn off TC every time you start the car.

255/55/18 tire height is 29.04 inches (694 Revs per mile)
255/45/18 tire height is 27.04 inches (746 Revs per mile)

This ^^^^ is a 7.4% difference and outside the accepted 2-6% range. If no TC, then no problem.

I love the look of the wider rear tires (265+) and the 255/45 in the front. I just got the 265 50 18's in the rear (stock rims :() and can't wait to see how my car will look with the 255 45 combo in the front!
