Cut coils...revisited.

When people cut 1 coil from the original spring, do you cut it from the soft end (where the coils are tightly wound) or from the stiff end (where the coils are far apart)?

Cutting only 1/2 coil tommorow... Adding HD KYB and addco sway bar w oiled clamps... Cam bolts and car fixed alignment specs.... Can't sleep I am so excited!

Will post up after 2pm tommorrow.

Not sure if just 1/2 a coil is worth the trouble. JMHO.;)

Don't want 1 plus inches drop. Hoping for 1/2 to 3/4 inch drop. With the add of addco sway, Kybs... And the alignment, I think it will be just right for me. My black is already 1/2 lower in front than my silver (same tire size).

It may have been lowered a little befor I bought it.

I've ridden in a 1.5 lowered car, and imho it was far too low fand far too harsh a ride for me.

To each his or her own yes? I never want to bottom out on a curb stop.

When you see it, I promise you will like it!

And even cutting a half inch is far easier when changing out everything.

I am old

Mine dropped 5/8" with one cool cut. It took about a year for it to settle close to an inch. Every car drops differently depending on mileage and driving conditions over the years. I.E. Potholes/city vs. highway.

Ok,
shock install complete.
1st - let me say how hard it is to type this while kicking myself for paying to have my cut coils installed a couple of week ago.
2nd - total front spring R&R was about 2 hrs. same as the spring job would have been. Rears were about 45 mins. 1 hr. tops.
As someone else said (eazy peazy).
3rd. - ride is greatly improved .
The bumps that were driving me crazy after the cut coils were installed are now just routine.
4th - DON'T do the cut coils exchange without changing the shocks at the same time to at least KYB's. (JMHO.)
Thanks to all for the suggestions.
Happy Marauding:D

Lowered Alignment Specs

I saw here somewhere new specks for the alignment once a coil has been cut out. You may want to search for them.
Late!
