Big Brakes on a not-so-big Budget? YEP

Those seem rather pricey for just a pair of calipers. Here's my parts list from Rockauto:

Calipers:
Centric 14162127 and 14162128

Rotors:
Centric 12661089SL and 12661089SR slotted only

Pads:
Bendix D731 CT (front) D932CT (rear)

Grand total with shipping for everything to Canada: $657.80US

No core returned either.

Great info thanks!
You still running those control arms?
I just checked both sets I did for the MM & LSE , no visible cracks in the welds.
They look like hell though.[emoji13]

good to know! Glad I asked

Not everyone has the brakepads overlap with the edge of the rotor like Sully008, correct?

When I did the original setup,, my rotor was flat all the way to the edge.

Some rotors come with a bevel on the outer edge, which will create the illusion of an overlap.

Good to hear from you, Brad! I'm still running the lower boxed control arms from you. I replaced the uppers with the Limo versions, though.

Are you talking about the inside of the rotor where the pads don't reach? Or the outside? I'm pretty sure the outside is even with the pads. I'll have to check, but the car's buried in snow right now.

If you do bigger brakes on the
front, has anyone adjusted the bias or maybe felt like it could be
Improved on?
Great thread , hoping by the time I need brakes, I'll be in the market.
Is there any budget kit for the rear?

Somebody is thinking. The factory Marauder bias is too much to the front, shifting some braking to the rear is very helpful. The parameters you can adjust are the ratio of piston areas front/rear and the ratio of rotor diameters. I have not looked into the piston area ratios of the Zack/LJ setup as I already have a Wilwood solution with added rear bias.

It is also worth mentioning when mixing floating and fixed calipers on the same car to calculate the area ratios one must double the piston area of the floating calipers because of the way they act on both sides of the rotor hydraulically.

But here are the OEM parameters:
front 48mm pistons (2 per) = 5.61" piston area
rear 48mm piston = 2.805" area
F/R ratio = 2

The Wilwood kits come out at about 1.64 piston area F/R and 14"/13" rotor ratio. This seems to work very well, probably a good goal.

I remember Triple threat mentioned that the eight second beast , had modded rear brakes because of the change in size of the rear wheels.
Also the bias was adjusted towards the rear to compensate for the changes.
I love that you guys are pushing the envelope , even after all the years.

Yeah those are the best option for uppers, on the cheap.
At least they were in the day, not even sure if they are still available!

Wow!!!!

It's been over two years and I finally have all the parts ordered to do this on one of my cars.

I would be interested as well....

Yes there are. I have taken the remainder and sent them off for a bright black anodize process so they won't oxidize. Waiting on final cost, if it's marginal I'll eat it. If it's a bit more they may go up a few dollars in price.
I should have them back Thursday or Friday and get the final cost. :beatnik:

I want new black anodized... can I send mine off too?

I have an interest in upgrading the front brakes on the Black also....

I have the 14-inch TCE front brakes on my Marauder and I love them but my 01 CV is seriously under braked for a supercharged car. Does anyone know if this setup will fit on a Crown Vic?
