Wanted To Buy Factory Radio

MGDriver

Autobahn Marauder
My factory radio recently bit the dust, won't receive any signal, I've read that this is a common problem with these radios. My shop quoted me $400 to fix it so I'm thinking it's probably cheaper to buy another one.

There are lots of nice aftermarket head units out there but I'm trying to keep my Marauder stock and as original as possible. I have the trunk mounted 6 stack CD changer so I need the equivalent head unit to work with that.

I require shipping to Germany, please take that into consideration before making an offer.

Thank you for your help!

IMO go with the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner Audiophile unit, It looks factory and steering wheel controls work and subwoofer and sounds better. The trunk CD player WILL NOT work, BUT it has a 6 disc in-dash so you do not lose CD playing. can then remove trunk mount one for more room.but there will be a hole in carpet I believe. They run around $150 -180..I just sold one..

It is a directly plug and play into the cluster and harness or does it require any modifications? 6 disc in-dash sounds a lot more comfortable than having to change them in the trunk.

I just had a quick look on ebay, is this the unit you are referring to? www.ebay.com/itm/162076557159
The plugs on the back look different to those on my factory unit.

Cool well if it is that easy and if it does in fact improve the audio quality as you said I might as well get an Escape unit. There are a few decent priced ones on ebay at the moment so unless someone could still offer me a factory unit I'll go grab one of those.

It seems that the original factory radios are expensive and tough to find. The part number for the Marauder unit is 3W3T-18C868-AA I also searched for Grand Marquis units, they have a different part number 3W7T-18C868-AK but look very similar, will they work with the trunk mounted changer?

I remembered seeing a NOS one pop up on partsvoice once. Thought about snatching it for those of us that want to keep things stock. But I don't see it anymore.

I shoved a Sony unit in, not easy - the "converter" unit for the steering wheel controls had to be jammed in behind it requiring real muscle to make it work. Sounds like you have identified a very desirable solution IMHO..

Im going to put something into the Grand Marquis and found this, they say they ship to Europe .. can't vouch for them, though.

Marauder radio not worth replacing with another marauder radio as it's a matter of time before fm signal goes out on that one. best bang for buck and keep factory look is the escape audiophile unit.

Factory original is just that. They can rebuild your radio and replace just the tuner with upgrade. Keep the cassette, trunk 6 disc player and original " built your the marauder radio". Its the real deal , not some aftermarket unit or out of another car replacement that wasn't meant to be in a marauder dash. Years to come you will wish you kept it and the car will be worth more to a collector.

I'm still in two minds about this because factory original is a big thing in Germany when it comes to rare and unique cars.

I was thinking I'll probably take some cash in hand and end up getting both, the factory radio and the Escape radio it would definitely help the resale value if I have the factory original parts to go with it.
