Ridetech Coilovers

I've been working through options on lowering the front of the land barge. On my previous marauder, I had Eibach lowering springs and then cut OEM coils. Was not a big fan of the Eibachs, perhaps because they were paired with OEM shocks. Actually didn't mind the cut OEM springs with Monroe heavy duty shocks.

From research, I found the Ridetech coilover shock/springs. Only found threads where CWright and Motown have them. Does anyone else have experience with them? How much do they lower a stock ride height marauder? Did you go with the RQ or HQ series?

Also, does anyone have experience with both cut OEM springs and these?

Car is primarily weekend driver with mix of city driving and relatively long drives/cruises; sometimes functions as a weekday car when I miss driving it. No roadtrack or strip use.

eibachs are discontinued any way.and they don't ride well with oem shocks. i have cut coils and oem, willnbe going ridetech hq . i have NIB eibachs as well, but not for sale at this time. ridetechs are adjustable height so can go little to alot. would recommend SPC camber bolts when lowering

Thanks. I've had eibachs and would not do them again in any event.

Already have the SPC camber bolts sitting in a box and ready to go in when the time comes.

i think adtr.net has them, so does tirerack.com
SPC direct are pricey. specialty products company. they dont list marauders, but 03 and up crown vic marquis. recommended if you have trouble getting aligned or inside tire wear

yes I am having those problems lol. well mainly it wont STAY aligned..

The cam bolts are recommended if lowered, regardless of method. Got mine from Tire Rack while on sale. Around $40 shipped.

.

I have the HQ coilovers. Lowering the front end causes problems loading on the trailer and over some speed bumps. I don't like the idea of damaging the front bumper. The driving experience has changed dramatically and now I am challenging turns on Pennsylvania highways.

Is there any improvement with the adjustability settings to help weight transfer and get a better 60ft? Or is it a waste on a 4500LB car?

Thank you. This is helpful.

How do you find the ride quality?

I can tell you after installing four sets on different Marauders once adjusted properly with the correct spring rate (700lb) this is by far the best option available for the Marauder.

The ride quality is a little tricky. I have qa1 rear shock (single adjustable) and ridetech HQ coil overs up front. The front tires are a little cupped due to prior alignment issues. To make a long story short, I am still hunting for the sweet spot. From a drag racing point of view I think the car will launch better at stock ride height because it's easier to shift the weight to the rear tires.

I will tell you in the spring how it affects 60ft times, but I do like the way it handles in the corners.

After dealing with blown-out KYBs on my cut coils within 5k miles, I am seriously considering the RideTechs for my front. Has anyone done just the front, and not the full monty? How do you like it?

I'am curious with the adjustable shock/spring 700 lbs. Can you feel every pebble every crack in the road ?
How much /low adjustment is in the coil overs ?

The downloaded instructions from ride techs site give some decent information on lowering/raising. Doesn't go into actual figures but it helped me conceptually while looking at pics of cwright/vkirklands car in older threads.

After a few added miles what can you share ride and handling differences from OEM ?

On the positive side the handling is great and it's phenomenon what the car can do, ask Seneca Snyder. As far as adjusting the shock travel you would need a different shock combination to achieve stock ride height. On the negative side, because the car is lowered, I have to avoid large dips and high speed bumps. Also I had to purchase a expensive set of Race Ramps to load my car on the trailer. With stock height tires I now get rubs in the finder well. To fix this issue I need to change coil over shocks or reduce my tire size to 245 40 18. The highway ride is great but city (pot holes and un-even pavement) driving is less desirable then stock.

I'm wondering why you cant put more preload on the coil to raise the car some? is there room for a 10 inch spring? or woukd that put the adjusting collar into the liwer a arm pocket? what spring rate did you get? 650 might not be enough on the 8 inch spring. ive heard 700lb spring or 750 if big blower and steel block. Im aware the ridetech system is designed for using a 03+ front suspension on a F100 truck. it was not built specifically for a crown vic, panther.
