Does Liquid (member on MCM) post on here?

Hi there The pad does make full contact, check the bedded-in photo and you can see the contact area is inside the rotor OD. http://moldyrabbit.com/liquid/mm/brakes/IMG_2157.JPG

A bad night for the Marauder

Some days I think a fender bender would be a blessing, considering the sandblasted and chipped paint on my front end :( But actually seeing any MM get beat up is just so sad!

    Front Shocks? PLEASE HELP!!!

The only way to get Tokico shocks for our cars is to get them at the Ford dealership. The shocks that Tokico makes for FCSD have received all of the upgrades and "lessons learned" that they apply for OE production (Explorer, Expy/Nav run Tokico monotubes too).

    Fuel filter clips

I have still broken clips using a screwdriver. Maybe I'm just a klutz, but I always do better when I have the right tools for the job.

Need help from a Trilogy owner

4W33- is an engineering prefix for 2004MY Grand Marquis. The rest of the part number you listed isn't readily decipherable and do not look like standard Ford # system.

    VRYFAST Mustang wanted to play

Heading west on I-96 last Saturday 10/18, I was tooling along in the center lane just enjoying the view with the missus. A black blur comes up in my driver's side view mirror then slows way down next to me. At first I figured the guy pegged me as a cop, but then I look over and he's just...

Ford Canada wants everyone to buy from Toyota.

Your headline makes it sound like the review came from Ford Canada. Anyway, what is the Toyota comparator model that gave you such a huge price gap? Did you load it with all the options that the Flex has? Otherwise you are not apples-to-apples here. I compared the top-end Flex to the top-end...

    Leaky rear shock.

If you go to the dealership nowadays, you will probably get "right-side up" monotube replacement shocks instead of the "inverted" monotubes that came stock on our cars. Just check the boxes that the parts counter gives you before you accept delivery... if the dust tube is corrugated then it is...

    Replacing Shocks

I would maybe replace the rubber pucks that attach to the top mount, but why replace the mount? Make sure you have the lower bushing correctly oriented to the upper mount when you put the module back together. This can be accomplished with a paint mark on the OEM mount... and if you're really...

So which one has the best ride?

There have been no notable suspension changes to either car since '03 that would affect ride. Keep in mind the LWB & limo Towncars run police shocks.

5years old-ish, what have you had to replace?

Maybe less of a problem in AZ, but wiper motor would be a good one (see keyword: wacky wipers) Shocks should last you longer than 40k mi. These are the same monotube construction as 02-05 Aviator, 06-current Explorer and 07-current Expedition/Navigator. Not saying there are never problems...

    LED gauge cluster bulbs

Pardon my ignorance, but wouldn't LED cluster bulbs make it impossible to adjust brightness? My understanding is that LED is on or off.

    Naake Front Coilovers

I would suggest re-using the OE dust tube and cap; the dust tube for obvious reasons but the cap has many functions: 1. provides a place for the jounce bumper (yellow thingy) to go when the suspension is in full compression--otherwise all that foam rubber is just going to squish outwards and...

    My new dead pedal design

Just installed mine. Great item and great instructions. I managed to get by without a deep socket 10mm but it is still strongly recommended! I may change out the footplate with something a little wider; my foot wants to rest against the kick panel, too. Consider me spoiled...
