And as the tools become easier to use the output of using the toolsbecomes a commodity thereby decreasing what an end-user is willing to pay for it.
But someone still has to do the nitty gritty... and they typically get paid pretty well. :pimp:
LOL... I remember having to solder some wires to...
Been away for a bit... Here are my additional comments.
John as I'm sure you are aware there is a very significant difference between shareware and open source, which you touched on. One is completely free. I give you the rights to what I have done and you are free to change it and do with it...
I too had the detonation when I originally installed the tune. I was at 1/2 tank and always used Mobil 93. I decided to fill up with BP Amoco 93 and within 10 miles the detonation is gone.
Guess BP gets my Marauder gas money from now on.
This leads to an interesting dilemma. I think SCT deserves the $, or $$$ or $$$$$ for providing the tool that allows the underlying programming. What I think we then debate is the value of the tuner himself rather than the tool to create the tune. If we all pay SCT their $$$$ why can't/shouldn't...
The model that seems to have favor in software is value based pricing. IOW, How much money you pay to the "tuner" will determine what you can do with the it. Pay $ and get to flash it and use it. Pay $$$ and you can modify it too. Pay $$$$$ and you can redistribute your changes. I hate value...
So do we ask you for the XTR file for our tune and then run Xtreme tune or ???
:help:
Edit: I'm going to do some research to see how this tool works but any shortcuts obviously welcome.
I said I told the wife I wouldn't mod it for a year after I got it. It's almost two now and this is a very minor mod. The more I drove the other car the more the transmission behavior would annoy me and it finally reached a breaking point. You will enjoy the difference!
Now to get SCT to...
I finally got around to ordering the stock Marauder tune with an XCal2 and it is :bandit:
I don't hate the transmission when coming out of corners anymore! Why oh why did I wait so long?!? Thank you Lidio for a superb job!
Now it's just a matter of time to convince the wife that we...
Glad to see you made it home alright. Hopefully you had a great nights sleep before getting home! ;)
Thanks for letting me take the test drive with your new baby. It looked just about perfect. Very nicely taken care of by its previous owner and nicely prepped by the dealer. You have a...
What's irritating for me is that two different dealers looked at it. One tried to teach me about it being a "two-way" switch to engage the auto down and that was my problem and the other a simple "can't duplicate" without a word about how common the problem is.
I told the dealer about a rattle...
Plenty to eat in the area depending on what you like. All the major chains are less than a mile west of the dealership and some other great choices are in downtown Naperville about 2 miles away.
IMO the best way to get to the dealership, at that time of day, from O'Hare is to take I294 south to I88 and then take I88 west to Rt59 south. There is construction on I88 and Rt59 an be a bear during rush hours but you should be able to make it in around 1/2 hr.
I'm about 5 minutes from the...
I came to the site the last couple of days and it shows me as a guest. I click on the forums section and enter and I see the correct history. Very strange. I investigate and it seems to have to do with whether I come to www.mercurymarauder.net or just mercurymarauder.net.
Sure enough two...
This has been driving me ape *%&# recently. It's incredible how loud this is on my 04. Not even cheap Korean cars make quite so much noise when the AC compressor kicks on.
I too was told it was normal and even heard a Town Car and Grand Marquis make exactly the same loud noises. I thought I was...
Curious.....
I've had a "noise" since day 1 on mine. The Ford techs said it's the EGR system and "eventually" it will go away (Yeah right...)
So I did my own oil change yesterday and behold. It's gone. This is my second oil change (dealer did 1st) but I used Mobil 1 0W-20. Noise is gone. I...
There's an 03A Marauder that sometimes parks next to mine in the parking garage here in Downers. Still haven't met the owner after 4 1/2 months. Maybe someday...
Thanks again guys! I've had winter tires on my previous RWD cars and know that they are a great help. Honestly though the KDWS were doing *really* well this winter. I really feel like I just blew it though.
In any case the shop manager didn't seem quite as phased by it all either. You know "a...
