for those interested in an update on this, I found that Duplicolor actually makes a chrome black-out kit. Keeps the shine of chrome but just darkens the tint. When I get around to ordering the emblems and "shadow chrome" I'll post pics to see how it turned out. Duplicolor Shadow Chrome
