This was for a 2004. I don't recall ever needing to provide a VIN or receiving a code when I bought the tune.
Is this locking thing something that people started doing later? Anything I can tell by looking directly at the tuner via USB?
I guess I'm really confused too because since I returned...
I've had the locked/unlocked question come up a couple times. Based on my previous use and understanding it is locked once you program the tune into a car. When you unload the tune it reverts to unlocked. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
WRT "catch code": I have no idea. Since the tune was...

Hell, I ordered his Level 2 kit. But there was no one local that I would trust to install it that could do it in a reasonable (to me) timeframe (Even though I thought I had someone lined up). So.... I ended up calling and having him cancel it before it was even sent. *sigh*
I had the dealer do it. The only folks I would trust to upgrade the trans were way too far out on timeframes to get the daily driver back up and running. FWIW: It's a $68 part with > $1200 in labor.
I'm pretty sure the trans will hold up until I get around to upgrading everything or getting rid...
:mad2:
Good.. Now that *that* is out of the way. Let's just say that it has been a long, long road to getting the Marauder back on the road. Not much of the traveled road was fun but here is the culprit:
After finding out that Ford originally wouldn't do anything to help with the repair...
