For Sale 1984 Buick Grand National - Silver Spring, MD ~ Not Mine

So sad............ was a rare car. Too bad the paint and interior looks great but the small block ruins it for most. .02

+1

As beautiful and well-built as I'm sure it is, it may as well be a Monte Carlo for that engine choice... :depress:

Yep....I own an '86 and the allure of these cars is that turbo 6 spooling up. Unusual car and I would be tempted to pair it with the 86, but at 9K I'd stay with an original intercooled. If it were 6K or so, probably take the leap.

Yes, rare car and rare interior,
but it was the non-intercooled 200HP turbo V6......:sleepy:
Performance wise....not much to get excited about until the '86 intercooled version.

Guy I knew back-in-the-day had an '84 or '85? GN that got repo'd because he was lame and quit making payments on it. His mom had cosigned for it and went ballistic when she found out what her tard son had done.
It was a very rare car even back when they were selling them new. The only '84/'85 GN that I've ever seen.

I would have to beat my son for that! As for the engine, I know its a weak suck hot air, but you just don't stuff a SBC into a Grand National.....EVER!

Production numbers on the 84's and 85's where very low, thats why you never see them. Yes the 3.8 SFI non-intercooled 200hp "hotair" seems like nothing special now but it broke the mold back then. And when 1986 rolled around (the best year I must say see sig below) it changed performance cars forever.

IMO, at least "ruin" the 84's and 85's and put the intercooled 86-87 engine in them. Or if your going V8 how about a Buick 455? Not a small block Chevy........

The Turbo Regal's have kept my attention for a long time, and will continue to because of their fun factor and people still don't know what they are......... :)

That's a mean looking car right there. With that 355, bet it sounds even meaner!
Sorry, I know they can be damn fast, they look awesome and I have tremendous respect for the GN, that V6 sound always made me nuts! A rumpity 355 must make that thing wicked!.....albeit sacreligious.

I had 3 87s and to this day is the fastest build i have ever done ,low 9 sec ET, and 1072 RWHP on a single turbo.

You've probably never driven one and experienced the sphincter tightening torque that the 3.8L turbo v6 produces...With a few bolt on's and the stock block at 140K miles, it's run a best 6.8 1/8...

If you have respect for them then do yourself a favor and ride in one that has some bolt ons and a good tune......... I guarantee you wont give a **** about how they sound after that..........
