2003 Cobra exhaust manifold versus other DOHC

Is there any difference in the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds on the Cobra versus the other DOHC engines?
Searching for new ones, it list one model number for all, but the SC Cobra is not listed in what I can find????
I have "96" mustang manifolds and I am just wondering. (I dont have room for long tube headers and I dont think shortys are work the extra money!).

Most guys use the Cobra manifolds so they can bolt up a mustang X/H-pipe. I've debated on doing this myself.

But what is the physical difference in them? why would the x pipe make a difference? not sure I understand that part...but I am a little dense!

I was just about to start a thread about this exact same question. What the physical difference is between the termi manifolds vs the mach 1 or Marauder stock exhaust..

From my understanding, the MM has a 2" exhaust before the stock H pipe..are the cobra manifolds larger in diameter to the x/h?

Sparky, the x-pipe is what gives these motors that higher pitched raspy muscle sound. The H pipes generally are a lower toned hot rod muscle sound.

The marauder has dual ball flanges and the Cobra passenger side has a flat flange with gasket.
I used Cobra manifolds on my Turbo project

So if you replaced the X with the H would it completely change the way the car sounds??? Factory stock or whatever setup you've got???

Like Zack said, different flanges. The factory Marauder H-pipe is AWEFUL. It chokes down big time. It still surprises me NO ONE came out with a bolt in X or H pipe for these things. I talked to Dr Gas and they sounded interested but wanted my car for a few weeks. Its a daily that I use for business so that was out of the question.

The manifolds themselves are larger too, and cast with a wave in them. (I'm sure for increased flow characteristics but not sure.)
Cobra Guys make 700rwhp all day with stock manifolds

The manifolds themselves are larger too, and cast with a wave in them.

That is what i was looking for. Any measurements on the ports?

So if I am running 01 C heads, and under 500hp, will I see a difference with 03 Cobra manifolds over the 99-04 Mustang manifolds I have? (Dorman cat number 674453 and 674457 for reference). I couldnt find a number for the Cobra or Marauder on Rock Auto, but the Marquis is a different number/design.

I found a picture! I see the wave, but not a good shot of the ports. I see the flat flange on the one side.

That's a question no one really ever found an answer to.

I'd use the Cobra manifolds. You can get them for 50 bucks used

They are 50-80 used for the pair all day long on forums, and especially Facebook in the classifieds groups

Yes.....most X-Pipes sound high pitched and zippy...the one I had fabricated sounded like a pair of mad Hondas with "Fart Cans" on 'em!!:mad2::argue::bigcry:

The H-Pipe is more mellow with a lower tone and more of an "Old School" burble!!:bows:
