2003 Maruader blew out a plug

Hi,
My 2003 blew out a plug and the threads are stripped in the cylinder. I was talking to Ford mechanic and he said the heli-coil will not work correctly. Has anyone been through this? I hear that time-sert is a better solution. Has anyone done this?

I was taking to one mechanic who works on these 4.6 engines and also works on Ford GT's? He said best solution is take the head off.... :confused::depress::depress:

Time sert is the correct fix. If the repair person doesn’t have the extension, they will need to remove your valve cover adding many extra $$ to the repair

Thanks for the info. I called a FORD dealer and they said if the threads are not bad they can do the time sert...If not the head has to come off. I would never take it to a Ford Dealer.
