410 gear swap when supercharged

Okay have a few questions to people who've done the 4:10 gear Swap. and to those who haven't that are supercharged. this is only for people who have supercharged cars do you think that it was worth the jump? did you notice a big difference? any regrets?

Had the 4.10s installed before the chance for the Trilogy came along. I likely would have left the stock gears in if I'd known. Having said that, I don't regret the 4.10s being there.

I think you see more of a difference with a centri then a blower, I did mine before the centri s/c but have no complaints.

All depends on what you are looking for and the torque converter matters as well. I added the Vortec, 4.10s and the 3500 stall all at the same time. It all made a huge difference and I enjoy it a lot but it is a hard charging car off the line. My experience driving and being driven in cars with a trilogy is that I would leave the 3.55s as those blowers work great off the line as is. But if you want even more get up and go the 4.10s are a nice bump.

dont need a high stall converter with roots blower, power is instant, my converter is like 2600 stall. 4.10, blower, gas mileage? does not compute..19-21 mpg on hwy for me doin 70-75

I remember a time not so long ago when “anything over 3.55’s is a waste” was the normal comment..

So being different I went 4.30’s with the Trilogy AND cranked the wick up to over 19#s! Absolutely LOVED it. So did everyone else who drove it...

Sure it takes some peddling, but that makes it a fun drivers car!

Nowadays you probably see more 4.10’s than 3.55’s. Funny how times change.

Ok so it looks like 4:10 it is. I have the Eaton swap! I once drove a Trilogy car it pulled a lot faster off the line then my eaton swap does. and that was with the same 3:55 gears and 10 pounds of boost. Thanks for all the info I think I'm leaning towards the 4:10's

Ditto same combo. I can get it to hook from a dead stop with good tires.

Mine got the 4:10 then the eaton. Truthfully the gear change did not give me the bang i was hoping for. If i had the eaton first the gears would never got changed. I have got 26 MPG on trip 65/75MPH.

If your poking around the rear end..... I highly recommend moving to 31 spline axles and a better clutch pack, or, better yet, a Detroit Trutrac....

I wiped out my clutch pack even before Trilogy.

It Depends! ...

As stevengerard said: (It) "All depends on what you are looking for ... ".

I had my Y2K PI detuned to under 600 hp, and even with 3.55 gears, street tires are way short on traction. I have a 3.08 complete axle to replace the whole assembly with (hoping to soften the bottom end somewhat, and not smoke the tires for the whole 1/4 mile).

I enjoyed the stock gear in my eaton swapped car. I have 410's ready to go but have not put them in yet.......... hmmm.........

Rear Gears and Higher Stall TC

I'm looking at CAI and tune for sure. Not building a 'race car' but looking for a more 'sporty' drive train response similar to my Mustang and maintain good fuel economy.

Has anyone gone to 3:73 then to the 4:10s? 3,500 stall TC? Will a tune bring down the torque peak from its present 4,250 rpm?

My Mustang is a true pleasure to drive with it's 3:31 rear gears, CAI and tune. Love the way the transmission shifts with the tune. Thought about going to 3:55 on the Mustang but straddling the fence at the moment.

Edit: After reading an article on the PI website I'm starting to think I should leave my Marauder stock TC in place? Still leaning toward 3:73 - CAI - tune at the moment.

If I had the blower first I wouldn't have changed the gears. I did everything possible while NA but still wanted more.
