Another upgrade you might consider...ADDCO FRONT SWAYBARS NOW AVAILABLE!!!

I just ordered my Addco 1 1/4" FRONT swaybar, with bushings/clips/etc.

They are new...the Part# 2196 is not on the site yet. Mine will be here soon, I'll get it thrown on and report any findings.

As always...I have no financial affiliation with these, like the control arms. Just passing on some info...

Don't know if I've heard that^^^ but, I'll report and let you know.

If there's one thing I know about taking pictures for a business to go in a catalogue or on the internet...that is a nice background!

Well Tod I am a ADDCO dealer they made the rear for me, the only drawback to a larger front sway bar is it does not allow for weight transfer when launching the car, thats why I never looked into them, since you have posted this what was your cost maybe I can get them at a better price for a group buy for the club.

Sorry Dennis...unintentional oversight on my part...I think their regular price is $190...I did a little better than that on my call. Feel free to let me put mine on, let some folks drive it at the next breakfast...with some feedback from them, maybe you'll have a basis to put together a group buy.

I have been asking several vendors here....for months....if front POLYURETHANE BUSHING KITS were available. None have ever gotten back to me....

Now I see them!!!

Dennis, I would rather deal through you. Will you check on the price/availability of the bushing set please? I don't need the bar, the OEM is just fine.:)

If it's good to go, I'll call you at the office.
BTW: I am not the only one waiting for these....

Just out of curiosity....

I understand the beefier front sway bar will hurt straight launches. I'm not too concerned about that, I am more concerned going through the twisties and keeping my front end planted.

So,... am I correct in assuming that the beefy sway bar will help me in aggressive turns?

That's my understanding...

This has not been my understanding...but, then again...I'm not the expert and my car does more than go in a straight line...though some do feel this it to be true in launches. I need to confirm with Scott Levine...who had the fastest car at the Luxobarge shoot-out this week, for his thoughts. And of course, Master Suspension Expert...Jeff Harris.

Even in cornering it is usually better to have a larger rear anti sway bar than the front (with RWD), If you beef up the front bar too much it takes away the effects of the thicker rear bar. With my FWD SHO we purposely left the back smaller to help it kick out in the turns (for autocrossing). Our MMs are rwd with greater weight distributed in the front. I'd like to know if Dennis or Addco can tell us if this front bar helps or just negates the additional thickness of the bigger rear bar. I just got a rear bar from Dennis, not on yet but it sure is beefy! Between that and the new control arms (M&Z) I should be in for a pleasant handling ride.

Deja Vu

I was over on the $ean Hyland website yesterday and was reading their "package" for the Marauder, which included a new front anti-sway bar. I thought "gee, I wonder why there hasn't been any mention of a front bar on MM.NET," so I looked at the AADCO site, and there's a spec for front sway bars for Grand Marquis and Crown Vics. I was going to follow up on this when I talked to Scott next time and had put this on my short list for "new projects." BOOM! The Toddster beats me to it!

I'll be very interested to see it. (insert cash register sound here)

Ahh, the mod budget takes another $200 hit.:burnout:

Thanks Todd.

There has been. Another of our sponsoring vendors

Quickor also has, and has had for while, front sway bars.
Quickor bars, unlike Addco bars, are made of 4140 steel

For those of you talking about decreased weight transfer and harming the launch performance:

Have any of you ever dealt with rock-crawling 4x4's? A lot of off road suspension systems utilize sway bar "quick-disconnects" to allow full articulation of the axles. I'm sure someone MUST be using the same style disconnects on their street car.

Leave 'em engaged for everyday driving / twisties. Disconnect the endlinks in seconds when you're running the 1320. Have your cake and eat it too.

Ok I just got off the phone from ADDCO, I am working on the front poly bushing kit there is no link kit for the front sway bar, so every one knows the picture of the sway bar in Tods post is of a rear sway bar not the front, ADDCO has just droped the price of there rear sway basr for me through the club, the cost now is 185.00 plus shipping, part number 2196 club price is 179.00 plus shipping but again if you race the car I see no use for this, the front bar on our car is huge, a set of polly bushings will help and is far cheaper than the whole bar.

Thank you Dennis!:bows:

I'll bug you in a few weeks if I don't see your post in your forum. When you do get the front bushing kit together, and are ready to sell...I'll gladly help inform the folks I know of that were waiting.

Cruztaker, please add me to your list. I want to add this to my first batch of mods.

Parts like those shown wouldn't work with the 2003/2004 suspension. The new front end is designed for ball joint links which attach directly to the knuckles. This trick allows a one inch bar to be as effective as a much larger bar connected conventionally to the lower arms with bushings. The bar shown has a pronounced center offset, which also hurts efficiency. With the new frame, no offset should be needed. The poly bushing idea is complicated by the fact that our front bushings are bonded to the bar. This is supposed to improve steering response.
