CAR Motorsports Gods Head Emblem Shipment Update

Emblems Installed

Pics of rear emblem along with the stainless inserts put in some time ago.
Steering wheel and front grille done also. I kept the angle on the badges close to that on the rear. The slant is OK.
:D

I have the emblems installed on my car and just had to tires installed on the front. The kid at the garage asked where I got the firefighter emblems.I told if he looked at the center caps and the backs of the front seats he would see the same thing. He knows I am a full time firefighter and thought that the godshead were firefighters said he never thought it was Mercury.

Excellent, JD. That's how I want mine to look. Hopefully Alan and Rich will make it so. Shipping it back on Monday.
Did you already contact Rich and he said you can ship it back to him ???

If so, then I'm calling him Monday to ship mine back too....

Good News

Hi everyone,

I was just in Rochester, NY where I met one of the folks that was involved with the design and production of these emblems. As we always see here, he was one heck of a guy, who really cares about what he does. He truely has a passion for it.

Well, I showed him what we have run into and it turns out there is no real problem. I, as I am sure others have done, rested the rear emblem on the trunk and lined up the curve just so. I felt the angle was off abit and stopped. Today, we solved my reluctance and turned it to line up the way I wanted it and pushed it on hard and evenly. To my surprize, no problem at all. So off came the tape protector and on went the badge. I am a happy Marauderer...

If anyone has any problems, give me a shout and I can help you out. It's raining cats and dogs here in Buffalo right now, but I will get some pictures as soon as I can and post them in this thread.

Quality, Service and Support is unmatched. Thanks everyone, for the input and patience.

I feel dumb for not even noticing the curve of the emblem vs. the curve of the trunk lid....:o

As you said, I lined mine up the way I wanted it, then just pressed it on. Looks like it came with the car! I couldn't be happier with that and the S55 badges. Thanks again guys! You do indeed make some fantastic products!

The only way the badge that I received fits on the contour of the trunk lid is with the head angled forward with the brim of the hat level. Any other way and the gap between the badge & trunk is unsatisfactory.

How close are you located to Rochester NY? I could set you up to meet with the same gentleman I arranged for Buffalo Joe to meet with. As you can see from Joe's post yesterday, there are no problems with his emblem after having the chief designer show him how to position it. Also, if you would like to return your emblem for a replacement that is fine as well. Maybe Joe could meet up with you as well. There appears to be a few isolated cases of members not being able to mount the emblem with the Marauder facing straight ahead. In Joe's case it was corrected by application in the manner which will produce a straight look ahead result.

Joe....would you like to explain further the process that corrected your perceived problem?? Thanks

Yes.

The bend in the badge (and the mounting tape) are MUCH more forgiving than I had thought possible. I orientated mine just the way I wanted it. with a sharpie, I marked at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock with straight lines on both the emblem and the paint. Now mind you, you have to push, and it conforms well, mine did.

After marking, peel the tape protector and line up the marks. Even pressure and pushing HARD did the trick. Mine worked out fine. I will put pics up in a few minutes.

Trust me, I know the reluctance, but it's fine. I felt a bit foolish when I saw how well it worked out. If you don't believe me, just go out and orientate it how you like it and push all around the edges at the same time. Now, it won't work if you try it 90 degrees off, but a little to either side is no biggie.

Thank you Joe, Again a reminder that you will push from the sides of the emblem with all of your fingers and thumb at once. The sides are what you will be sticking down. The middle of the emblem will simply follow along with the adhesion process.

O.k. Here is my DTR sporting the Car Motorsports Custom Deluxe Emblems.

How to mark: Line on emblem & Paint.

Installed: Push Hard and even, especially around the edges & hold for a minute.

I also marked the trunk equidistant from the alignment holes to ensure I was at the correct height and perfectly centered. That was ~1/4 " from @ hole.

Rich it's on the car now. I don't think the gap will be acceptable in the straight up position - even if the tape were able to hold it tight initially, I don't believe it would stay tight for long.
Short of re-contouriing the badge it will have to stay as is.
IMHO the contour is wrong on the badge that I have. If the head were designed to orient straight up, the badge would fit tight and even to the trunk lid sans the adheasive holding it there.

I'm a big boy, and the contour of the badge wouldn't budge with all my weight on it on a bench. I had to take a rubber mallet to mine and beat it into shape. Maybe there were variations in thickness also?

Did you not want to take us up on the offer to meet with the chief design gentleman in Rochester? He would have applied the emblem to your Marauder. If you would like a replacement emblem, take yours off and send it back. We want you to have a great result. You can see the beautiful result that Buffalo Joe had on his trunk emblem. No reason you will not end up with the same result on your Marauder trunk lid. Give us a call tomorrow to discuss your situation further.

Each piece is produced from the same exact mold, and therfore no variance in the contour should exist. Same with thickness, should be exact. If you would like a replacement as well, simply give us a call and we will authorize the return for a new emblem. Clearly a few folks have struggled with mounting the trunk lid emblem, it is very strange since each emblem is identical and the contour is exact to the OEM emblem within .005 inch tolerance. We did a remeasurement again yesterday. A mounting template is being produced to aid those individuals who may need the help. This template will be available next week. The large majority of owners have been able to mount their emblems without incident. We really thought this would be the case for all owners since we thoroughly tested the trunk lid emblem in application. As always, let us know how we can help you.

Rich,

See my comment here:
http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showpost.php?p=364450&postcount=95

First, the quality of the emblem is amazing and I wouldn't send it back for anything. I was pretty retentive about the orientation of the emblem during test fitting, and I guess I'm so quick to think "I can tweak this" (mod mentality I guess) that I hit the ground running to the workshop.

The comment that the contour can be easily formed by hand just didn't sound right from my experience with mine. Maybe it can, I didn't try it as posted. I am glad that you are taking care of anyone that still has an issue with this though.

I love the emblem and I love the underhood liner - especially after all the extra attention to detail you personally provided to getting the "Supercharged" text color just right. Count me as a 100% satisfied customer.

Thanks for providing the picture of your mounted trunk lid emblem. It looks fabulous, you did a great job. We love these Gods Head Emblems, no other vehicle type has anything like it for an emblem. Custom designed in style, materials and finish for the Marauder period. It continues to be a pleasure serving you and your fellow Marauder owners/members. All the best.
