Carlisle Ford Nationals could feature the Mercury Marauder in 2024!

I sent the attached email to the Carlisle Ford Nationals, asking if the Mercury Marauder could be featured at The Carlisle Ford Nationals in 2023. It made sense to me: The 40th anniversary of the 1963 Marauder and the 20th Anniversary of the 2003 Marauder.

Ken Appel answered and said "....Unfortunately no one from either of the Marauder Groups reached out to get something going when e were planning the 2023 anniversaries in the last year....That said we went with the ones that had backing from the clubs as its hard to go out on a limb and do it yourself with no support"

How about if Mercury Marauder.net and the other Marauder group Ken mentioned petition Carlisle to celebrate the Mercury Marauder in 2024? If we were able to do that, I'd bet we'd get a lot more Marauders
show up to celebrate!

I'd like to hear from the Carlisle regulars in our group to see what they think of this idea.

I think its a great idea! I've been the past 2 years and will continue to go every year from now on. The limited production cars should be featured more over the newer generation cars, its history that shouldn't be forgotten about!

Are you getting enough interest to make it happen? Based on the nuber of responses it seems like nobody wants to make a real effort to get a large number together again like a Marauderville.

When you say "nobody" keep in mind that there is nobody in charge of organizing any events on the forum. Anybody can take the initiative. It's always hard to gage interest until there are firm details. It's a big undertaking and the days of a huge turnout for a Marauderville event might be over but you never know until you try. Mary O'Keeffe (a site owner) would be the place to start in terms of interfacing with Carlisle officials. There are many members who have organized big events in the past who would likely offer advice/support if asked, to whomever wants to undertake this one.
PS. I see some great long-time members who've traveled from out of state to attend Carlisle over the years have posted in this thread. If they're interested in coming, that's a great start. Mr. Man, and I would attend as well (schedule permitting). Carlisle is great for Marauder owners to get together and I hope this happens. So the question is who is taking charge of organizing this event? ;)

Part of the "lack of interest" may be due to the fact that the event this thread is talking about is 18 months from now. Not many people can say, "Yeah, I will be there" that far in advance...

If I remember CORRECTLY the Last Marauderville was in Sin City, and there were a DAM lot of Marauders there! Yes 18 months is out on the Horizon... But we can all send a car to Mo's for a small (you pick) ----- upgrade... Sounds like FUN!

What's up Grant! We hosted Cleveland Marauderville a year later, never thought that would be the last one. A lot has changed in the past 6.5 years, many long time members have passed or sold. Even Louisville didn't seem to have the enthusiasm of earlier years. That leaves Carlisle as the last big Marauder gathering, built around a huge car show. Mo's always seems to have a number of Marauders there, even when they get on RoadKill. But I don't think they can handle many of us during a couple days meet up. Traffic in the ATL area is as bad as LA or SF. Mo's is probably good, a few Marauders at a time. If you ever plan something big on the west coast, give us plenty of time heads up, we have talked about another killer cross country trip. Don't know if metro LA or SF would be a good choice because of traffic, adding another 20 cars to the mix while trying to caravan isn't fun, downright dangerous. I hear OR or WA is nice.

Sorry I missed that one! Understand about the changes, I am now at the precipice of Downsizing... And have these two beasts and a small hoard or parts taking up a solid 3/4 of my small 3 car garage... Figure it is now or never! Kids grown. A little more time off... Can still walk... Hehehe... Can still see... Hehehe. Obviously losing my memory... Hehehe! Maybe destination locations are the ticket-draw? State park, good roads...? I still LOVE the photo of Linc/Merc's Marauderized Town car. I WANT ONE!
