Wilie,
The SS guys who come here don't talk trash, or put us down. THey support us and share their love for the "Heavy Weights" of the performance world. This board would lose something if they left. I hope you will understand soon.

Also, we have guys who ride in both camps, having owned and still own both cars.

And I do run with ponies in my car. Keeps them honest. :D

Thank you. Someone sees through all the BS, I haven't even read the thread yet. Do I care, No? On my SS forum, months ago there was a lot of trash talking on the Marauder. Still is. It's dumb really.

I like the Marauder for many reasons, I like my SS for many reasons, I like '70 GTO Judges for many, I would like a '64 Impala with hydraulics for many reasons. Most of us here are car guys...we can see that.

Are you really bothered by what they say...nah...shouldn't be.

Jeff

Thanks for the link LML, I think it's quite amazing how a a group of motorsport "enthusiasts" can openly diss a car they obviously have never driven, and pledge so much support to a car that isn't a car yet. One even spoke of how well the GTO handles...Go figure.

I had other things I wanted to say about the underlying topic, i.e. "segregation," but I'll pass. I think the Impala SS crew knows too well, that they are welcome among us, 'nuff said.

And another thing...

I bought my first Ford ('94 T-bird SC) for the same reason...there was nothing else out there I liked in my price range...

because...

I didn't find out about the Impala SS until AFTER I bought the T-Bird...don't know how I missed it...but don't get me wrong; I LOVED that Ford, but I would have absolutely bought the SS if I'd seen it first...

I, for one, WELCOME our SS brothers on this site...you guys know what big, bad, black American V8 RWD muscle with style is all about...

Don't you just love the guys who compare the Marauder with the V6 Altima, Camry, etc? Just because of magazine articles and published 1/4 mile times.
Don't ever think about researching anything beyond what is writen in a magazine LOL

BISHOPSS95,

"Oh ........ Race Me" At SSHS3...you see my earlier post to you?:D

"Is it not what its all about?" Man does not live by quarter mile alone.. You ready for the "Tail of the Dragon"?:P

SSee you SSoon...

LS1.com has a LOT of very young guys who think their cars are God's gift to the human race. My own heavyweight land whale has shown many of them the error of their beliefs......

I'm personally hoping some car nut in the Daytona area will buy a Marauder and mod the crap out of it, so that we can go out and terrorize the streets together :D

What choice does the GM camp have for a 4 door family size performance vehicle??

The Bonneville SSEI and the Bonneville GXP in MY2004 with a 285hp 4.4l V8. I know, I know it's FWD. But it is still in the same league, fighting over the same buyers.

I agree with Derek and the Auto, com article.

Dealer called me Friday. Has a 2003 TBird, list $41,650. Wants $38,955 for it. And that's just the starting point. Red, red/black interior, select shift trans, etc.

Some dealers, according to their inventories on Fordvehicles.com, have 12 2002's plus 3-4 2003's in stock.

Dealer in Ridgewood, NJ has three 2003's sitting right out front. (Had a 1956 TBird in the showroom a few weeks ago.)

2002's are going for about 5K off list with the Ford A plan.

Corvette sales dropped a lot more than T-Bird. Corvette dropped 40% even with huge rebates etc. and I don't see any articles form the media writing about how Corvette sales have dropped during its 50th anniversary

A dealer I know out here has only been able to obtain two or three Thunderbirds. He doesn't mark them up, and over the last year could have sold 30 or 35. While some dealers get them to stack up on their lots, Dealers out west are still having them trickle in.

Same as the report on Marauder sales. Sure sales have been off, but the articles make it sound like they have had a full year of sales exposure

Also F-Series sales were up, to 56,569. Chevy sales dropped LIKE A ROCK, down 30% to only 36,088

Most of Chevrolet sales are similarly down, but for some reason, all the media talks about is Marauder and Thunderbird

The reason the media is reporting this is because:

1) These cars were suppose to be "got to have" cars that are being produced in limited numbers.

2) Their numbers have been down for several months now.

3) Their an easy target because of all the bad press Ford has had for the last couple years. (Excursion, Explorer, Crown Vic, and now Econoline van)

The GM numbers are only from January, not the last several months. I'm not trying to make excuses for GM, but one reason some of their numbers are down is because they sold a record number of vehicles for last year and the month of December.

No such thing as coincidance

I started to see Grand Maraque comercials in the last weeks of January.
January sales of the GM are up 24% over last year.

Hmmm

Advertising in mainstream media works!! And by getting their butts into the showroom, some of those (us) poor browbeaten husbands who are there to look at the new Aveator will see (I hope) this beutiful black machine, sitting there, saying "Let's go for a ride, and scary the crap out of those punks with there fart pipes."

I wouldn't be suprised if Marauders are selling better now.

Happly married! Just ask my wife.

After reading those Marauder discussions, my blood is boiling. A four-door car and a two-door car are not the same. I don't make any assumptions about the GTO other than it's ugly.

Yes, it's natural to get angry. But in the words of Mr. T: "I pity the poor fools!" There are some obvious idiots out there. Most don't rate a response.

I'm with you there, md...the new GTO may in fact BE a very nice vehicle, but, like most things Pontiac in recent years, it is indeed ugly...and small...if it actually makes it to production with the 340 zillion HP they're claiming, it will be very fast...but still ugly...and small...did I mention that it's ugly?

Maybe they can gussey it up a little with some mods--MM's really have a attitude from the get go--like the SS Impala--I could not believe how they changed the look--from boring to great. Old GTO's were not small and it makes you wonder why the name--follow the leaders--bad attempt no matter what the sales
