I heard the comp cams stage 3 sound on a MM but it still didnt sound that good to me, any suggestions about the cams lopes?duration? I need a measurements for a custom built cams and i want it to chop hard but not come to a stall :)
I know am asking for something impossible but i want something sounds better than comp cams stage 3
The measures are required for two cars one is forced induction and the other one is N/A
 
You will need a higher stall converter for lopey cam. Cams are expensive to buy and install on a 4valve so alot don't spend the $3 grand plus
 
Put in a Coyote and run a ghost cam tune.
The cost of a set of 4 custom cams, installed and degreed would go a long way towards a salvage Coyote.
I spent $1,200+ on Crower cams wayyyy back in 2005.
They weren't wild grinds as I didn't want a high strung, peaky 281cid motor trying to move a 2+ ton sedan with an automatic.

Oh no i want more than just the ghost cam, i want performance and sound
 
4v cams $1500 , new cam springs $500-800, install $1000 + new converter for lopey cam, $1000 plus install..you do the math
 
1 more psi of boost is worth about the same as what those cams will get you.

Gordan, how many more rear wheel horse did your cams net you?

I’m asking this based on the statement above, is one lb of boost equal to 25 hp, 20hp? Is this a statement of fact or just a statement of stating? The op was inquiring about cams and he’s from Saudi, prices aren’t comparable and technical difficulty is irrelevant. I’m sure Marty could suggest a good racing cam profile for him and ship for a decent price. There are also vendors that will ship overseas. I know Crower cams degree in at 110* with 4* advance built in.

With my cams at 345 hp it's a gain of 55 to 60 HP.

Way too many variables to calculate HP per pound. Anything you do to free up air movement and increase efficiency lowers your boost I know.

I still have my cams, loved them for sound alone. Maybe someday I’ll stick them back in. Also last I knew, Brian Tooley Racing has HD valve springs for $199.00. They are the same spec as Comp cams.

I’d be the last guy to tell the OP not to do it. I bought mine without a care of more power. Priorities differ with all..

Let's talk rear wheel horsepower...

1 psi is worth about 15-30 rw horsepower depends on engine and I believe the OP had a laundry list of blower parts he was gathering over the past year...

2 3 4 5 grand for cams or just set the blower up for an extra psi and gain the same amount of power for 0 dollars to whatever a different pulley costs

I'm just saying to get the same power gains add a psi of boost...

Honestly I asked what Gordan's rwhp gain was with cams, I thought I heard it was 6 rwhp. 345 rwhp seems decent. With boost you can easily attain 440 rwhp and it's close to the same amount of money as adding cams.

Degreeing and adding 98 cobra cams, I've read a bunch where all these dudes are saying they are worth 20-40 rw horsepower... then someone does a back to back and it's like 6 more horsepower....
That's why I say just turn the boost up 1 psi it's a lot less messier, and I worked on heavy equipment for 20 years, I know what messy is lol

to me the cheapest thing to do with mod motors for power is boost it maybe 4 to 6 lbs. more than that in most cases needs pistons with a lower ring pack.

The total cost you mentioned doesn’t include the low end that some of us have spent. I paid around $800 for my used low mileage Crower Stage 2 blower cams, new cam bolts, and $199 for new springs (that are recommended but not an absolute need IIRC). Labor - zero. Converter not absolutely needed but foolish not to. Luckily no issue for me.

This situation doesn’t apply to many peeps, but I’ve never really blended in with the norm.. [emoji6]

Just not knowing his situation I figured I’d include what could be had.

I ran 13.5psi for years without any problems. I pulled the motor because I wanted more power. The stock high compression engine had -0- issues. The cylinders still had the factory cross-hatching in tact.
It's all in the tune.
