Deep Transmission Pan

Planning on a trans service. Considering changing the pan, curious what others are using and how or if the filter location changes. Thanks.

Benefits of a deeper pan are - greater capacity, drain plug & extra cooling.

Filter location stays the same. Make sure you get the old "O" ring out before installing the new filter.

You can reuse the gasket (it's made to be reused).

If there is on magnet in the aftermarket pan, take the one out of the stock pan and epoxy it in the bottom of the new pan.

I'd do the J-Mod if you haven't already.

Mag-Hytec is sweet on my car - its a little tight squeezing the larger pan past the crossmember, but it is doable after that its a pretty sweet pan.

Black powder coated/ finned aluminum Hughes deep sump baby!

And, Yes I incorporated the factory magnet into the new pan....:hmmm:
can't remember if it came with its' own magnet.

I installed a deep aluminum pan several years ago and the only advantages I see is the drain plug and 2 extra quarts of fluid!!

Trans temperature is the same as stock....just takes a little longer to get there!!;)

For a street car I'd say the Econoline (U-Haul) pan (stock with drain plug) is all you really need....spend your $$$'s elsewhere!!

Stock pan with drain plug makes transmission service a breeze! Very easy to drop transmission fluid just like engine oil with removal of a simple welded in plug. Ford makes a pan, dorman makes a pan or weld one into the stock pan if you have the skills. It is very inexpensive to replace quarts of Mercon V then to rebuild your transmission due to poor maintenance. Make it easy!

What DrZ said ^^^

I have the Ford U-Haul pan on The Blackbird, and put a B&M drain pug on Mary's car and my DD.
