Ever Fell Like a Cop?

NOMARQUIS

God made life a gamble.
Ever Fell, I Mean FEEL (DUH!), Like a Cop?

Ok,

I braved the salty roads and took my few day old Marauder for a cruise. I was rolling down a 4 lane highway at 70 mph when 2 cars came flying up behind me. I saw the nose dip down on the lead car, which was a Neon with a ground effect kit on it. He must have really slammed on the brakes because the car nose dived even with the 900 pound metal trunk mounted wing. The two cars signaled over behind me. They left me several car lengths of room. Keep in mind it was night, so they probably didn't see "Marauder" on my bumper cover. They wouldn't pass me. I floored it, and took off. Funny, they just stayed behind.

Also, I noticed people tap the brakes when I pull up on them. This sort of stinks when you are in a hurry. I wanna sit in the median some day and watch the brake lights come on. :)

Does this ever happen to you guys? I guess my girlfriend is not the only one who thinks my new car "looks like a cop car."

Eric

FYI I've driven it 300 miles, I love my car. I ordered weather mats and a front end bra from Ford. The Marauder is SWEET!

Daily issue....we are officially wtfisit's :P

I got on the PA at redlight after nearly rear ending an accord with no tail-lights. I holler at the driver to notify him of this situation. What does he do? He pulls off to the berm and blocks traffic....now who looks like the idiot? Me! Cause I am not LEO! I holler back into the mic, 'driver, I'm just warning you that you have NO break lights...get it looked at!' He waves his hand, and off he goes, thinking wow, all I got was a warning....good thing 'cause my console is loaded with crack.

The PA is TOO much fun:D

Go WOT up an on ramp and watch traffic pull to the shoulder when they see you comin'.

Happens about every third time I do it. Even more often with the black steel wheels on.

All the time

I have a 99 CV, silver in color with a black grille. everyone thinks I am "plain brown wrapper". Plus, I most often wear plain white shirts and sungalsses which makes matters worse.

I was amused by it at first but it has become a RPITA. People literally slam on their brakes when I approach them from behind. I have had people pass me at speed and when I slide in behind them they hit their brakes. Sometimes when they have determined I am not a cop, speed away, and then "forget" that I am not a cop and hit their brakes again. It drives me crazy.

So how do you Fall and what does it look like LOL!!!!!!! I think the word is FEEL.

Ever fell like a cop.:shake: :shake: Ever feel like a cop yes even my county mounties think so as I was leading 4 CVPI's of the Tusc. County Sheriff then I pulled over and let them all go and each one looked at me like WTF!!!!!!!!! until they noticed I didn't have the 2 ft high yellow lettering on the side.:D

Better still, head down a one way street heading the wrong way and watch the reactions.

Or hang your head out of the window and make siren noises like Todd does. You ought to see the reactions he gets.

We are not cops. Well, most of us aren't anyway. So, get over it.

When I had my 93 greenC/V with the sport pkg and people knew it was'nt a police car they seemly would go out of their way just to get bye me?It was wierd,it was like they thought I must be one of thier elderly relatives that needed a driving lesson?
Now with the Marauder that doe'snt ever happen.Quite the opposite the roads open up and young kids driving snap thier necks to see what's behind them?I swear you can see the whites of thier eyes.:D

That doesn't seem to happen at all with my Silver Marauder, but boy did that happen a LOT when I had my old 2000 Crown Vic. The wierdest of those events happened when I floored it onto the highway one night, and these ricers were racing when they saw me and slammed on their brakes so hard I smelled burning brake material from behind them. They were doing some serious speeds and I actually found it hilarious............

However, that affect was actually annoying and i'm glad that type of stuff doesn't happen with the Marauder!

Had it happen in my 95 GM. Its WSP white, Limo tint, and I was on a trip so I had my mag mount CB antenna on the roof. I hit the onramp at WOT, stayed 5 over the limit, and it was 15 minutes befor the first car had the guts to pass. Her kid held up a piece of paper that said "Are you a Cop?"

I also had a country town cop Sitting at a speed trap let me go by because the car I was passing was between me and him. He couln't see the plates so he must have thought I was state patrol.
I had her 15 over the limit then to get around the car I was passing on a two lane road.

I had an unusual experience today relating to all of the above posts. I wore my black leather MM jacket for the first time with my aviator cop sunglasses. I had more than a few people study me real hard before passing me. The leather jacket definitely makes people think twice. Also, a cop shot my MM with a laser gun thought an empty car trailer and I thought I had it for sure - nothing! Of course stupid me, I had the Beltronics unit shut-off. The car does look like a cop car not only to people, but also to the police.

Get a push bumper

I have driven a 99 Dark Blue Crown Vic LX with a push bumper and steel rims for 105,000 miles and 3 years now and have not been pulled over. It has no markings other than the push bumper on front (you can see it in the photo gallery). I have passed troopers at 20+ over and they don't give me a second look.

One problem in Michigan is that we get a lot of people who park their cars in the left lane at about 5 under the speed limit. With my headlights on and at about 15 mph over the limit, the ones who actually look in their mirrors will move over (but only about half of the "gummers" actually look in their mirror between cell phone calls.) As well I've seen speeders pratically lock up their brakes on the interstate trying to slow down and get out of the left lane when they see me.

I specifically looked for a blue Marauder because it's close to the Michigan State Police blue used on all the cruisers (Michigan Police Blue is acually one of the factory color codes for the panther platform) I'm strongly considering putting the push bumper on the front of the Marauder. But, I love the chrome rims and I don't think they would go with it. (Maybe a chrome push bar with a Marauder logo on it? Any vendors interested?)

I've noticed that when I am driving down the highway most people just pull over and let me go past and they pull back behind me. It is great I feel like Moses parting the sea. I have also noticed that a lot of people don't pass me right away it takes them a few minutes to figure out that I am not LEO and then they pass cautiously. Also if some one passes me like a total d**k or going really fast sometimes I will pull up behind them and make them think twice, sometimes they pull over and let me go other times they just continue on their way with reaction. Sometimes I wish I was a cop to pull over some of these a$$holes on the road, but not my job so I will let the real LEO take care of them.
