Little story that just took place....

I Took the MM out tonight, we've got a food truck guy that sets up on Fri and Sat nights, makes a killer steak and cheese sub. So i head there, meet up with my friend, and we're eating in the car.

An SVT Focus pulls up, guys got an arm full of tatoos, wife beater t shirt, buzz cut, etc.

He asks me "have you seen Steve?"

I honestly thought he was asking about a Steve I know, so I said no, haven't seen him tonight. You try down by McD's ? He looks at me funny and says no, he wouldn't be down there.

He then asks me what precinct I'm out of and pulled out his badge, undercover State Trooper .

I laughed and said "no, I'm not a cop, this is a Mercury Maruader, not a cruiser. I'm just eating a steak and cheese."

He apologizes, says they've got an undercover operation going on tonight, and they thought I was another cop doing some undercover work.

I can see why he thought this, as my car is black, black bullitt wheels, tinted windows, etc.

Told me to have a good night, but that I might want to head home or take out a different vehicle if I was planning on being out any longer tonight.

Oh, and I asked about the focus, it was seized from a drug dealer.

Never jhad that happen, but I did have a porn star mistake me as a porn star once.

What a night!

ALL THE TIME, when I owned my CVPI. It was dark blue with a spot light and no front plate. Got waves from almost every cop I saw. Only give away was my tinted tail lights and reverse lights.

People still stare down my MM though. I think they think its some sort of police car.

Constantly.

The Greenville County squad cars are all dark blue, and there are still quite a few CVPIs in the fleet.

While I get waves from cops in the Marauder I've never been mistaken for a cop by a cop in it.

My first Crown Vic was another story though. At the time the police chief of a local town had an identical car including the aluminum wheels. So when I was called to one of my rental properties to secure it after a crime had been committed there they moved the road block and started to wave me through. As I was starting to roll through he quickly yelled stop, and when I rolled down the window he said I thought you were the Chief. The federal marshals based out of Seattle also had a few cars in the same color too. So more than a couple of times I had cops that had me dead to rights running radar just wave at me as I went by.

It happened one or twice when I had an old CVLX, but not with the Marauder. There have been a few cops who've stopped me to say a few nice words about the car though. Some people on the interstate still think twice before passing me every now and then.

No, but I know since I'm a cop that a few of the local guys around here driving Maruaders have gotten free passes because my coworkers thought it was me.

There was a funeral bricade for a police officer driving in opposing lanes in marked cars and unmarked cars and most were giving a nod or actually waving at me, plus I was wearing my dark blue jackèt at the time.maybe thought It was a police type looking coat.oh and I have a silver birch.

When the state troopers had them still I used to get waved at all the time. There was a silver birch that used to be parked on Mc Mullen Booth all the time and thats the route I take to work. Needless to say I got the wave all the time in my SB when I was driving my commute. Not so much now that they have retired them all and I have a loud ass exhaust.

Sometimes, when I'm driving on the interstate late at night, I think other motorists mistake me for a cop....people can be hesitant to pass me and if I'm in the left lane, nobody gets in front of me....

I get waves on my crown vic all the time from other cops :) and I got stoped one time by a cop saying do you have lights on your car. I said no way :)
