Figures...

No Marauder winters for me, I shuddered just driving it home from the dealer last Thursday eve. Luckily the roads are dry but coated in calcium chloride and salt. I traded a 2001 CV Sport on the Marauder. In the 19 months I owned the Sport, it was driven a total of 2830 miles, no winters, no salt. I hope to do as well with the Marauder.

I find it hard to believe a vehicle, and a 2001 for that matter, has only an average of 148 miles a month for 19 months put on it and then you trade it away--why even but it at all--thats only 37 miles a week.....what gives here--and you still have a '97 to town around in??? Must be nice!! Obviously your lack of mileage on cars intrigues me!
 
I would LIKE to "limit" the amount of miles I put on the MM, but so far I haven't been doing so well with that idea.
I've had the car for less than a month and have put 625 miles on it....and I only drive it on the weekends.
Love driving it.
 
It takes great willpower to keep the car for good weather/summer use.
It's taking greater willpower now to not take the Marauder out. I hate salty roads and rusty cars, and the Marauder is a long-term purchase.
I would like to have it paid for with as few miles as possible.

I go to local shows and meets in the summer regularly, the car does get used. My 80 mile per day commute is the reason behind the '97 ex PI.
I bought it outright, and when it's life is over, I'll buy another short-money PI for a daily driver. The PI's are a lot of fun to drive and very cost-effective. LOL, the Marauder in storage with payment is not so cost effective, but men have to have their toys.

I have a 1984 BMW 633Csi coupe as well for summer use. This stickered at $44,500 back in '84 and was the last of the hand-built BMW's. 5 speed standard Inline 6 OHC. This came to me used and it has lots of miles, but originally came from New Mexico, therefore 19 years old and rust-free. Completely different and very enjoyable driving experience from the Vic or Marauder.

I'm fortunate in that I understand auto mechanics and do all but the largest and most complex repair jobs myself. This is especially useful with the BMW as dealer service cost can easily get well out of hand.

Yes, Willpower. I'm working on it.
Had a 83 PI Ex Ma. State. The car was in awesome condition. It had the 351 with the VV carb. The paint scheme was still intact. Prior to auctioning them they used to tear off the decalls (most of the outer part of the decal came off but the inner/sticky part stayed on the car) and then spray paint over the sticky leftover with black primer. You could carefully remove the primer and the inner part of the decal with laquer thinner.....so i did, and the car looked exactly like a MA statey. Course it didn't take long before I was "advised" to paint it all one color.
Anyway, yes, they are a lot of fun. I still love the old box style.
 
I bought mine to drive it. How can you enjoy a car if it just sits? I have just about 10k on my MM. My old cars get tons of miles from spring to fall. I just don't take those ones out in the snow. Just my .02

:alone: :coolman: I PUT 6K ON MINE FROM AUG. TILL THE FIRST SNOW IN OCT SINCE THEN MAYBE 3 OR 4FT. . AROUND HERE A BRONCO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND!!
 
I drive mine in the snow I dont know about you guys, the snow here isnt THAT bad but when theres a little more than i can handle....Ill treat it RALLY style....
 
IT`S NOT THE SNOW SO MUCH AS THEY PUT A LOT OF SALT ON THE ROADS . AND THEN YOU GET THE OCCASIONAL SMALL BLIZZARD , ALL THOSE PEOPLE WITH THE LITTLE FRONT WHEEL DRIVERS AND NO SNOWS END UP TURNING THE ROADS IN TO PARKING LOTS OR THEY FORGOT HOW TO DRIVE IN THE SNOW AND WANT TO TAKE A FEW OF US IN THE DITCH WITH THEM FOR COMPANY . :mad:
