fob and keypad issues

I've searched for a while before I posted this.

So, my keypad will NOT lock or unlock the doors with the master key code. But if i push on the keypad buttons the interior lights come on. That tells me it's hooked up an semi workin.

Now for the FOB issue it's the original to the car. I've cycled the key like the book says to do and hit the button. The FOB will lock, unlock, open the trunk, and panic button goes off. ONLY if the key is in the run position. Once I pull the key out-----NOTHING :mad2: BTW the FOB has a new battery in it too

One other thing. I can not lock the doors with the lock button inside without it unlocking itself before I close the door. Then I just go around and lock all the doors manually (which sucks!!)

Try each button separately and see if the interior lights come on when you push them. You can have a bad button and if it is the 7/8 or 9/0 you won't be able to lock and if those numbers are in your code then you won't be able to unlock either. Also try pushing down frimly with a little wiggle. The 9/0 button started acting up in my son's GM and you had to push it just right for it to work. So we programed another code that didn't include that number. It is a pain to use it to lock but at least it can unlock until I can find one in the wrecking yard.

As far as it unlocking when you use the interior button that is what it is supposed to do when the key is on to prevent you from locking the keys in the car. So for some reason the door module must think the key is on. It may be that it is supposed to do that when the key is just in the ign.
 
Ok I'm still having an issue with the keyless fob. I rotated the key to run and off like I was supposed to. The locks did not cycle.. So where is the problem at?
 
My door keypad doesn't like to work in the winter time at all and during warm weather I have to firmly press the buttons to get them to register.

If you have multiple fobs you'll want to program them all at the same time.

While in the car, open and close the driver door a few times.
Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN four times within three seconds, ending in RUN. The locks will then lock and then unlock, confirming program mode has been entered. Press lock button on a key fob, and the door will lock and then unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has been programmed. If additional key fobs are to be programmed, repeat Step 2 within 7.5 seconds. To exit program mode, wait 7.5 seconds

Did all that and the locks will not cycle. The locks do work when I push hard enough on the outside keypad
 
The Driver's Door Module controls the locks. It sounds like it is seeing a "key on" condition all the time. That's why the locks won't stay locked when you use the inside button. Just to confirm it has never had an aftermarket alarm system installed? sometimes they make the connections at the DDM and mess with the wires. If this is a problem that just started and no modifications were done, then I suspect either the outside keypad or DDM are bad (assuming no damaged wires inside the door or where is goes through from the door pillar to the door).

You may be able to flex the wire bundle in the rubber cover where it goes from the door pillar to the door. If this changes/resolves the problem, I suspect a wiring issue in that area of the bundle. Then try to disconnect the outside door pad from the system (connector is at the pad) and see if it will lock/unlock normally. If not, then I would try another DDM. They are all the same for CV/MGM from 03-05 with keyless entry. You will get a new master code however printed on the tag on the DDM.
 
now I have the DDM in my hand. does the power plug have 2 wires (Orange / Yellow and green stripe)? Or is there supposed to be 4 wires total? The connector has 4 slots for the power part of the DDM. ALSO the panic button doesn't work either

UPDATE: The keypad works now. I've taken it apart and cleaned the contacts along with a couple window switches. Just like NEW :)

Update:
I cleaned my the contacts for the keypad and replaced the DDM with a used one. The FOB works like it should.

I don't know if all your problems are related, but this behavior is what it does when it thinks the key is still in the ignition, probably to keep you from locking yourself in the car. Perhaps this is a place to start troubleshooting.
