FS: 2003 black with 16,500 miles and 0 mods

i believe i am the second owner of this marauder. i bought it last summer from a dealer in michigan. the ad, without pictures, on autotrader said 11,500 miles and i called to ask if it was a mis-print. that was first thing on a friday morning and by saturday the car was mine. aside from the dealer's fuzzy blackberry pics, i bought it sight unseen. the day she arrived i took her to my mechanic for (an admittedly late) inspection. he was under the chassis when he asked where it came from. i told him michigan. he then asked if it had ever left a garage, and added that it looked brand new underneath. a week ago was the only other visit to the mechanic (for an oil change). i have put around 5,000 miles on it since i bought it. almost all are here in the city of los angeles which is part of the reason i am considering selling it. i have to say it's a bit unnerving knowing i am driving essentially a collectors item. i am terrified at the thought of getting into an accident. this car is nearly brand new, like it came out of a time machine. there are tiny cosmetic imperfections i imagine a good detailing would remove. and there is a smudge on the driver's side headlight (it arrived that way....see pic below). other than that, she's gorgeous inside and out.

the bank still owns half. i think it's worth at least $18k. what do you guys think?

EDIT: (can't seem to remove the '?' from this thread title) posted on CL in LA. considering offers. :(

Looks really nice and shiny. As for price. I'd buy it if all checked out fine. I payed $18,000 for my DTR in 2009 with 24,000 miles at that time.

Good luck man.

DTR + 4.10's + Eaton swap = Wreeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom

If your only concern is driving it cause it's a collectors item...drive her, that's what she was made for. You sell it you don't have it. You drive it and gets wrecked and can't be fixed you don't have it. At least you had it to drive. My thoughts. Good luck witht the sale though.

I think $18,000 is right where it should be. Very nice!

Get yourself an agreed value insurance policy through classic you'll save some dough and may reconsider (not) selling it. As far as price, if I was in the market we'd be talking. Super nice low mileage ride man:beer:

Gorgeous car.

I wouldf hunt down the parts that you need to fix the "imperfections" so that no one has anything to pick at on this car!

i definitely drive her. it's my only ride and i absolutely love it. the other related problem is i live in a pre-war apartment with a driveway so narrow it tests my skills daily. backing down it at five in the morning (for occasional work) is particularly harrowing. the windows aren't tinted but visibility is L O W.

thank you. pardon my ignorance: is 'classic' the name of the insurance company? i'm still using state farm who sucked when my crown vic was totaled.

thanks for all the kind words and support. i'm happy to see that others agree that the price is fair. i will decide this week whether or not to part with her. if the question mark is gone from the thread title, she's avail.!

one more noteworthy thing my mechanic said:

"i bet that car passes everything on the road...except a gas station."

That should be said and is said about my '79 Mark V, but the Marauder. For the car it is gas mielage isn't even a concern. 19-23 MPG. Go look at the other Newer cars that ge that and they don't hardly compare to the 'Rauder. Understand about the space...that would be problematic I'd bet.

Nice and I would drive like I do for road trips. I always get those guys trying to see what she has under the hood and it's not your grandpa car!!!!:lol::lol:

With the mileage it has its past collector status. Most hard core collector cars are sub 1k. Great looking car though!

Nice low mileage Marauder, find a place in the suburbs to park it inside during the weekdays and drive a beater during the week.

i wish LA worked like that!

i'm gonna try and sell it (for the right price). i had a black crown vic before this that i never worried about. crown vics are everywhere. i think i've only seen two marauders in the past six months. and, i have to say: i don't know if it's the HID headlights, but the marauder gets far less respect in the left lane considering it's virtually the same car. damn LA freeway drivers!

yes, classic underwriters BUT,
it HAS to be garaged and CAN'T be your daily driver. do some searches and find one offering an AGREED value policy

You can park it at my beautiful home... I will wash, garage, and cover it... And take it out to stretch it legs every out other Sunday... but only when the weather is good. And since I live in NorCal... That is often.

I am the guy who thought you were selling it last time you posted up!!!!
