I was wondering what i could do to a 2002 GMQ LSE to give it some power. The superchargers are a little to pricey for a car from 2002 i don't wanna go crazy and break the bank, But Are there any relatively inexpensive turbo chargers that would be compatible with this car? And I hear a lot about putting marauder airboxes with 2004 Police interceptor zip tube. Is this better then the JLT performance true cold air intake system for the cv's and GMQ's I want to know what im best off doing for air intake, when it comes to greatest power gain. And what dose a torque convertor do? its seems like there alot of money for a little tin funnel thing, but like i said i don't know much about this stuff im only 18. But i luv the panther platform cars. So what will i need to get my 02 HPP LSE moving a little meaner? thank you all for your help!
 
The Marauder airbox mod is a good one, except that you will also need a tune, so that bumps the cost up a fair amount...like another $300+. Underdrive pulleys are a fairly low-cost mod that give a small but noticeable improvement in throttle response. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of low-cost mods for the 2V. AFAIK, there are no turbo "kits" for the Panther platform...anything you do there will be all custom.

The torque converter is a fluid clutch, so to speak. It allows the car to remain in gear while the engine continues to turn. It works by redirecting the flow of a hydraulic fluid to multiply torque, hence the name. Not sure what you were looking at, but it's not a "little tin funnel thing".
 
Start with a budget then go from there....

CAI, gears, tune and exhaust (helps in the perception of meaner).
 
If non of those suggestions work....................... Buy a Marauder ;)

Unless he has really tall rear tires, 4.10s are a bit steep for a 2V...3.73s are a better choice for performance, or 3.55s if you want to maintain some fuel economy.
 
Lets say after i bought the car i wanted to spend about 2500 over the course of a year. And wat about those jlt kits arew they any good? i dont understand the marauder air box methoed but ill tune it anyway so should i buy a 04 cvpi zip tube and marauder air box is that how its done? do they go in easy? and what about trick flow cylinder heads are those any good? i herad under drive pullies are good but im confused about everything. Maybe im stupid? any help is great! thanks!
 
JLT is a supporting vendor here...his product is high quality.

Underdrive pulleys free up a little power by slowing down the accessories...power steering pump, water pump, A/C compressor and alternator...they're a good low-buck mod.

The Marauder air box uses a different MAF than the GM which is why it needs a tune.

Does this car have the HPP? If so, you've got a good start, otherwise there are many more things that can be done to improve performance and handling.

if 2500 is your budget I would start looking into a supercharger for it Will give you the best results
I wouldn't go over 3.73 on a 2v panther for street use

Agreed.

I've got an airbox and zip tube off my car, PM me if you're interested in going that route.
 
I have a FMS 90mm throttle body that I had on my 2002 Crown Vic. PM me if you're interested in it. I had it on without a tune or larger mass air meter. If you do the Marauder intake and zip tube along with the throttle body and tune, you will feel some improvement. Everything these guys tell you is good stuff...especially the one about buying a Marauder!
 
This is Zachary. I have both a 2003 GM LSE and a 2004 Marauder. My son, the Mustang wizard in the family, got me a "Superchips" tuner and K+N cold air induction setup for each car. Don't know how much additional power I have on either car but it is noticeable and fuel mileage is maybe 10% better to boot. May not be "asphalt shredding" but with traction control my tire burning 1950s days are long since past anyway. Seems like the Superchips was 350-400 and the K/N Cold air induction a couple hundred. AND WE INSTALLED ALL BY OURSELVES. Have fun; folks who know cars say our Crown Vics and big Mercs are bulletproof. My 94 CV went about 300,000miles.
