Help,need headlight trouble shooting

We'll I put a set of silver star's in and still have no headlights.the power I am getting to the headlight harness is for the brights.i just cane back from my mechanic and he said I am not getting power from the LMC to the headlight switch or the blinker arm.any suggestions ?.?.

Still no headlights....so frustrated I'm ready to trade it in!!!!!!

Ived owned my MM since new,it now has 55,000 miles and has never given me a problem.a few weeks ago I realized my headlights weren't working.since then I have checked the fuzes, changed headlight bulbs, changed headlight switch, got a rebuilt LCM from fastblackmerc also had the blinker arm checked and still no headlights.all other lights are working including brights when I pull the still back.i brought it to my mechanic and he said I am not getting power from the LMC to the headlight switch and to the blinker arm????? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.....I'm almost ready to walk away from one of my pride and joys.. I forgot to mention I now occasionally hear a clicking noise coming from somewhere under the dash, like when the auto sensor kicks on the lights but no lights go on.

I just put brand new silver stars in and the old, original ones weren't blown either.I have no power at the headlight, just the brights work when I pull back on the blinker arm

If I unplug the headlight harness from the headlight, what 2 prongs in the plug do I check to see if
I am getting power at the headlights?

A volt meter will be useless in tracking down the problem if you take the load out of the circuit. The modern volt meter has a 10 megaohm input impeadance which means that even a crappy connection that will not light the headlight at all will still show full battery voltage.

If you want to use a volt meter the bulb needs to be plugged in and you need to probe the wires from the back of the connector. Connect the volt meter's ground probe to the battery neg terminal and probe all of the wires (on high and low beam) and record the voltages.

Note if the problem occurs only on low beam but high is fine then the problem is in the supply to the head light. If both are dim then the problem is in the ground.

I already know I'm not getting power to the headlights.I'm not getting any power from the LCM to the muliswitch or headlight switch.

Does anyone know if jim=fastblackmerc is out of town.I've tried PMing him a few times but no response.id like to try another LCM.

Just an update and I'd like to thank everyone who responded to this thread.my headlights finally work, turned out to be the LMC.jim aka fastlackmerc sent me another one and that did the trick.thaks again

Headlights! LMC Repair Vs. Wiring Kit w/ Ext Relays

Guys,
I started having headlights trouble too. I am pretty sure it has to do with the LMC. I've spent a few hours reading various posts here and in the crownvic.net site. It seems to me a good solution is to wire things to draw power directly from the battery, run it through a relay, and then to the headlights. Summit has a kit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/prf-30815/overview/ that seems to do just that. This delivers better power to the headlights and reduce load on the LMC.

If the above makes sense, does anyone know of better or more affordable kits to make the conversion? I'd rather have something as close as possible to a plug and play kit as I am not very electrically inclined. Buying relays, wiring, harnesses, separately is not for me. Thanks in advance.
