Hole in Elbow

I've pretty much come to the assumption that my local Ford dealership is sabotaging my car so I will not be going back there anymore. The issue I have now, I do not know if they did it... But no one else has touched my vehicle in the last 8 or so months and I'm just gonna blame them for this (because there is no way it could happen on its own)
This one hose coming outside the intake manifold has a small hole on the elbow of it.. it seems as if someone sheared it off with a pocket knife or something. I can hear the air coming out of the hole while the motor is running. now there are a few wires that come out of this and are connected to a few other things. It pretty much seems that i can remove and replace it by my damn self, but i just need to know what the part is and what exactly it does (Just wondering).
If anyone has any information i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance :beer: pictures below.

Car is totaled...I'll give ya $8.50 and you won't have to woory about cleaning the engine...:wave:

It looks like it was chewed on.

We have countless cars with rodent damage.

Hell, when we did an Eaton install recently, there was a mouse nest and a snake skin in the intake area! :depress:
 
That's your vacuum line. Get some black rtv (preferably the Right Stuff, yes, that's the name) and smooth that area out. Don't jam any into the hole and let it completely dry.

Looks like chew marks. Rat, mouse or squirrel.

And I agree, it's not your dealer... it's different rodent.

so this black rtv stuff.. honestly i have no idea what you all are talking about. can i go the local autoparts store and tell them i need some black rtv stuff and they will no what im talking about?...
 
and hey dont forget to put mouse traps in your garage!

mice will live anywhere near a food source - got a bird feeder near your garage? I killed 3 mice using traps in my garage last fall.

Go to any part store and ask them for "Right Stuff" from Permatex. It is a black gasket compound that is a far superior product that plain black silicone RTV. It will make a longer lasting repair.

Clean area with a clean rag & brake clean or starting fluid. Apply the goop to the injured area, building it up a little to replace the missing rubber.

Do not force the goop in to the small hole, you are just patching over it.

Most importantly, allow to dry 100% before starting engine. So don't start for 24 hours after patching.

Should work well and last a good long time.

When done, be sure to put out a few Decon bait boxes! I have 1 in each corner of the garage. Those little bastards can do $thousands$ in damage real quick! :mad2:
 
We fix a lot of PacK Rat eaten cars every year out here. It's amazing what they chew on, wires, vacuum hoses etc.

That was definitely chewed on.
