I'm so mad at myself *UPDATE*

You all can see my post in the "Shop Talk" thread with regards to the repairs and what happened. I got throttle happy, I lost control, I hit a curb and a fence stopped me.

Without further adieu:

Glad that you are ok. The force required to damage the rear end could have damaged the frame as well. Best of luck fixing the car.

I have my fingers crossed that the frame is ok. It looks alright, although the impact was hard enough to actually push the bushing part way out of the lower control arm where it bolts to the axle.

Good Luck. Officially it's total and scrap.

Such negativity! The photos make it look worse than it is.

If it was yours would you scrap it just because of that? I've already got a rear end waiting to install tomorrow after work, with any luck it'll be driving again by friday.

$70 for a complete rear end, $80 for a new header panel + $100 to have professionally painted, $35 for a new corner light. Figure another $1-200 for a RR door (painted) and whatever materials I need to repair the bumpers. Yes there will be odds and ends but I should have around $500 in it in repairs to get it back to the condition it was before, which was far from perfect but still very nice.

I don't know about you but I would never scrap a car this rare over $500.

That's a really bummer, let's all hope it fixes up alright. I know what that's like, will honestly admit that I have gone through a few of those scenarios myself especially when I was new to the car. I too have been gotten too throttle happy a few times and lost control, fortunately I always managed to stayed on the road and never did it when there was traffic.

Wow sorry about that. Those tires look very old on the rear. Bald O/E tires are to blame for quite a few MM's demise.

Did you hit the brakes on the over steer?

Sorry and hope you can get it fixed.

I believe I did hit the brakes. If I would have just powered through it I probably would have just been able to swing the rear end around 360°.

Bummer, glad you made it out OK. I think you might be a little low on your repair estimate, tho...It doesn't look like you factored in at least 1 new wheel, cornering light, damage to the front fender, grill, almost certainly some brake parts....I'm glad you are going to fix it, but you might want to start preparing yourself for a bit more than $500.00

You're right. I was more looking at essential things to get it driving again. I did figure in a corner light though. The grill actually survived minus a couple tabs that I can repair with jb weld. I will need one wheel but I'll use the spare wheel for now until I get some more cash.
