Is the wire running from the Alternator to the battery still available?

I cannot find the parts number and I think that's the cause of my newest problem. The battery light comes on occasionally - simultaneously the voltmeter drops down to below 14 - guessing 13.8 or so - while the battery red light is on - and then I hit a pothole and the red battery light turns off while at the same time the voltmeter pops back up to a little under 15v - had it on the oscilloscope and everything checks out so it's got to be that set of wires in my mind . I already replaced the clip end that goes into the alternator - so it has to be somewhere in the rest of the line.... unless some has a better idea?

Thanks for all the help, guys - but could someone suggest which ground locations to check? I figure it will be easier to find the correct ones to remove , clean and reconnect if I could get a little help on where to look....

Thanks a million , guys - and thanks Fat Bastid for the new( er) harness!

@ the OP: that line from the alternator to the battery stud on the BJB isn't just a piece of wire. It also has 2 #12 fusible links in parallel with each other, in series with the #6 red wire. DON'T replace it with just plain wire.

Thanks for the pic - very very helpful

Thank you very much for this - like you I have found that the manual is not all that helpful . When I had my troubles with the dome light not turning off it took me days to trace it back to a bad ground in the right rear door, of all places- which when cleaned up and reattached solved that particular trouble for me.

Are there any more grounds that should be checked/serviced in the engine compartment area?

Grounds are on the passenger side fender by the battery, on the front of the engine block and the top of the passenger side cam cover to the firewall.

HINT: look for the NEGATIVE - BLACK wire from the battery.
