Long Distance Marauder Ressurrection

Yeah...moved a little over a year ago to Winston Salem. Love it here!!!

A belated welcome to North Carolina. I live in Greensboro and remember you from the previous Ford shows in Wilmington & maybe the one in Mooresville over 10 years ago with SC Cheesehead (R.I.P.).

Well holy crap dude...welcome to NC. Myself, RoadWarrior, and another MM owner who's not on here have been meeting up for a cruise-in that's in Liberty (about 20 miles southeast of Greensboro) the 3rd Sunday of the month. If you're interested, come on out. We show up around 2, shoot the breeze for a couple/3 hours, then go eat at a great BBQ joint that's just outside of Siler City. Next cruise-in will be on the 18th...

With that amount of smoke I would think you could smell whether it's oil or coolant. Check your oil for coolant, and visa versa. If it's coolant burning stop driving immediately and fix the head gasket. Coolant in the oil will wipe out your bearings.

Long time...no update, so sorry. Had to wait until I knew the problem was licked. It was the PCV system. Had to do a bit of reconfiguring the make sure the pressures/placement were correct. No more smoking at all for over four months. BUT! Now I have a puddle of gear oil next to my driver rear tire...time for axle seals and bearings. [rear end service] Here we goooo...Any parts best to use here? Timken?

There's tons of choices but National Bearing seems to be a good brand, too. Or go OEM. There are worse jobs and believe me - the only thing worse than finding gear oil leaking is to find smoked bearings and NO gear oil! The pinion seal on my Town Car needs replaced and I add fluid once a year when the engine oil is changed. It's apparently not that bad but it's the only damp spot on the entire chassis so it's time along with a fluid change. I guess while I am stuffed under there I will install the new used air suspension solenoids I got to turn off the annoying suspension light on the cluster.

Glad to hear yours is doing well. My list of mods got slowed down and you know why. However, I did just get back in low gear and I am replacing/painting all the door mouldings and just got my supercharger pulley from BilletFlow.

As soon as the bung for the AFR Gauge is welded in I'll complete all the wiring and begin teardown. I guess my U/D pulley and COT are already spoken for. Still incredibly low miles with only 58K I am on the fence about doing all the timing components while I am knocking on that front door. If we lived closer I'd be there doing your rear diff with ya!!

Well...my resurrection has died and needs another resurrection! Engine seized up last week while driving home. Ugh! Now the arduous process of trying to find a motor to build for this baby. Anyone have an engine that is available? I'd love new (hard to find) but will do what i must to get her back on the road. Please hit me up if you've got options for me! Thanks Marauder Family!

Sorry to hear. The very best core engine you could find would be a '05 Aviator from a junkyard. All of them will have the "good" heads and a lot of them have the newer, stronger block. The oil pickup tube, oil pan, timing cover, and cam covers will need to be swapped from the Marauder engine, along with the Eaton swap parts. I believe the water tubes for the heater will also need to be swapped too. Whether to rebuild first or just swap and take your chances is up to you.
