Marauder Long Tube Headers

I've got some numbers in my signature, unfortunately, not bone stock numbers. If these headers will add 25 Hp to my numbers, I am very interested, very, because getting more HP out of the MM without blowing it, is very unlikely.

When you're looking at the cost, remember, any decent blower kit that we may see from anyone, will probably be a 8-10K mod, and would you want to go here without headers? If you know that you want to build your MM, the headers are reasonable in the long term plan, if they can produce now.

Fingers crossed for some real numbers...

I blurted out the 25-35HP prematurly as that's rather an incomplete statement. When I refered to "our Marauder", at time of dyno, was equipped with a 5.2 stroker engine. With addition of the headers, we gained an additional 25-35HP across the graph.

Thanks for the clearifacation.

As I like to say, "If it can't be expressed as numbers, it's opinion."
Give us a before, and an after on a 4.6 32v motor and just list the mods. This will give us numbers to crunch.

In two or three years, it's really going to be hard to choose between a Vortech and a stroker kit.

Then I'd be doubly illegal here in California. But that's o.k. too! Meeting with people I can't mention next week to think this all through. Can't get them in trouble if they decide they can do the job. If they're reluctant, then I'll have to search out of state. And then I'll have to see how to register it. Can't plead ignorance with a P.O. son. I've asked around through appropriate channels, and all I've done is gotten people angry at me, and probably alerted to what I'm thinking.

And the latest movement by the kooks here in California is to try to virtually outlaw current SUV's and demand we all drive hybrids. Time to move back home to Chicago, and only spend a couple of months during the winter out here -- right?

OK SMH, the twenty five horses you mentioned were on a 5.2, was that on an engine dyno or chassis, was it using your complete exhaust?

What would it cost for a header back system, with new low flow cats as well? Would you guarantee a performance increase? If so what amount?

Smith5365 nobody but you will know how big you engine is if you stroke it!Stock block and heads from the outside nobody will know.Even if you stuffed a 5.4 DOHC the smog station wouldn't know the deference if it was covered in all stock pieces.Just don't put anything on the outside to tip them off.
They are not going to see a MM everyday so the average shop guy will never know.So they won't feel the need to send you to the referee station.

Cyclone03: Good idea! That'd make the MM a real stealth machine. Also, have been using CARB approved headers/cats/etc. from Mustang parts list on my '89. The smog guys have let that go by as long as I come out cleaner than stock for my year. Takes some tweaking, but its doable. Since the Canadian version of my year came with a 5.4, there's precident for making changes you suggest. Will add to my discussion next week to include taking stock heads and reworking them (done on my GT-350 back in '67 with excellent results) which falls in line with your approach.

Mensrea, didn't Kenny put headers on yours? If not, you might benefit more than any of us with headers. If SHM got 25+ out of a stroker you should do pretty well with them with your blown motor.

What can you tell about installation issues? I'd do this myself if I bought the headers and H-pipe. Please let us know.

Best,

Paul :-)

Sorry for the delay guys.

The 25HP we made was with the 5.2, chassis dyno, and was with our exhaust system.

The headers cost $1095, H-pipe with high flow cats $395. Cat back not yet released yet, but the headers and the H-pipe will work with stock cat-back, or aftermarket. You must have our h-pipe, or have someone modify you an h-pipe to work with the headers.
The h-pipe is still 3 weeks away from it's final release. We do not have any stock Marauders available for stock testing of the headers. If we get a stock marauder here for installation of this system, then I can provide more exact HP of what performance stock you can expect.

Hi Paul, this system really should be installed by professionals. To give you a ball park, we would charge $350 for install of headers and h-pipe.

Cheers
