Thanks. I don't get as many "compliments" on the SHO as with the Marauder. As was mentioned here earlier, it kinda blends in with a lot of the other cars out there and most people don't even know what they are looking at. One guy asked me if it was one of those economy models because of the "EcoBoost" badging. Wish they would have used a different name. It does get great MPG (about 30) on the highway and closer to 22 around town and runs on 87 Octane. But at 365 HP stock, I wouldn't classify it as an economy car. ;)

I have already had the SHO for 15 months and have put 16,500 miles on it. So, I have plenty of time tooling around in it. I like it a lot ... especially the comfort and the amenities. The Marauder almost seems "austere" compared to the SHO for bells and whistles. Power is just fine and acceleration is quick and smooth. Shifts are firm, smooth and quick. Handling is not as good as the Marauder IMHO. Seems to have a bit of understeer to me and a small amount of body roll that is barely noticeable but there nonetheless. Probably should have opted for the SHO performance package and the 20 inch wheels with 245/45/20s Y-rated tires. That would have added about $3000-$4000 to the sticker and pushed the MSRP to about $46K. I didn't want to push the gag factor that far .... but if the one I saw on the lot had it ... I wouldn't have made them take all of it off. :rofl:

I estimate mid-13s in the quartermile. Should be at 13.0 flat with the LMS tune (Livernois) that pushes the HP to 400. The two small turbos spool up rapidly so there is no lag to speak of. Mash the pedal and its ....... GONE. Nice roar after it passes 2000 RPM but noticeably NOT a V-8 roar.

10 years ago, I didn't need heated or cooled seats, ambient lighting, SYNC activate phone and services, satellite radio, leather and velour seats, dual climate control, collision warning, back-up camera, rear sensors, blindspot monitor, etc. and many other features. Guess I am getting pretty soft in my old age and I kinda like all this technology.

Bottomline is that I really like the SHO; but I still love my Marauder. Both of them do the job. The SHO gets me to and from work and is great for family trips 'cause its trunk is huge. It'll carry more than the Marauder believe it or not. Only drawback to the SHO is visibility and blindspots .... but I am used to it now. Its not a fishbowl like the Marauder .... so we have been spoiled by the all round visibility of the Panther platform.

I ordered my SHO Boards today. I did the layout and design. Will be mounted on 1/4" foamboard and laminated by FedEx Office. Will pick them up tomorrow. Total cost = $61.62 plus tax for:

18" x 24" hood board = $39.99
11" x 17" trunk board = $12.88
8.5" x 11" dash board = $8.75

Works out to about $13.33 per square foot for the large board mounted and laminated. About the same for the others. Can't beat that. ;)

Just bought a 2013 SHO back in Dec. Love this car. It really is pretty quick for a turbo'd 6. I like the look and the ride is great. Mine has the PP and all options. The Marauder is still here and always will be. Just keep the one and get the other.
 
Nice show board Charlie. I had no idea the SHO was such a rare commodity.

I sat across from a 2013 model this past Thursday at my local cruise nite. The Ford dealer brought down a black one. I stared at it for a while and it stared back and unfortunately it just has no "WOW" factor visually. I couldn't get excited over the "Hot Wheels" edition Camaro the Chevy dealer brought and the Challenger now just looks dated.

That green looks great.

I've wondered about the traction control issues. Our Chrysler Aspen does the same thing. I try to go play in the snow with the truck but still even with the button pushed off, the TC still kicks in.

Can "tunes" override that garbage?

The Equus is no Joke //Lexus 460 quality and performance ,Car comes 2 wayz loaded and loaded with extras . // Drive one and you will be a believer, also keep in mind that they did something Honda could not do, and that was build 2 top notch V8 sedans [ EQ and Genesis ] for reasonable Coins >>>:beer:

First off Charlie I agree the SHO is a zippy car but it has no pizzazz (IMHO). Second, I'd be willing to bet that Carl Edwards car is not showroom available. I'd bet because it's a commercial it has a special tune and all the nannies are able to be turned off.

I agree. The Koreans have also learned from the Japanese and have cut the Q/C issues that the Japanese cars had in the late 60's and 70's. Within 10 years or so they went from joke car makers to serious contenders. If we get to the point of needing another car I'd have no issue checking out the Eqqus if it is still available.
 
Just a bump to this.

Our Escape is at Ford and they gave me a Taurus Limited to drive until the repairs are done. First impressions...

What I hate
#1, my head is sore. Slammed it on the roof edge getting in...
#2, The blind spot on that car could fit a whale. Yes I know it has the fancy little mirrors and the "monitoring" but I trust what I can see directly and systems fail.
#3, The interior is aweful. The dash is insanely high, huge, and if I wanted to sit in a bathtub, I would. Waste of space. Feel more confined than my fox body with racing seats and 5-points. Reaching up to the dash/display for everything is a pain.
#4, The digital tach that has a slower refresh rate than a 486 running Doom 3. Its useless.


Things I liked/loved.

#1, Ride quality. WOW, very smooth.
#2, Handling. Feels much more planted than the MM does.
#3, Transmission. Very smooth seemless shifts. Didn't take 10 years to downshift when you mat the go pedal.

Not love, Not Hate...
#1, Engine, for being N/A it moves when you ask it too
#2, Looks. Its nice, but still plain jane.

So basically I need to make my Marauder handle a bit better and keep slamming the miles on it.
 
I have a bone stock MM, I'm sure that just about every other MM here and every SHO can outrun and outhandle it. But I love it just the way Ford made it and would not modify a thing on it including the sound system. And I would never consider selling it for a new SHO or anything else. I see nothing wrong with modifications, SHO's or BMW's, just not "my thing".

There is something about an American made, V-8, rear wheel drive car thats hard to beat and harder to explain.
 
The wife stole the Marauder to take to work because she didn't want to drive the Taurus. So, I spent 160 miles in the Taurus today showing homes. These clients have ridden in my MM too. They said the liked the MM interior and engine noise better in the MM but thought the ride quality and quiet cabin were better in the Taurus.

Also we went through an area with "speed humps" Figuring what the hell its a rental I went over them at the posted speed limit. The car soaked them up very well, nothing bottomed out at all and made a quiet "thud" going over them.

The car is kinda growing on me. But no where near to where I'd want to sign the dotted line on one. Checking my blind spots is a ***** for some reason (received a middle finger) and I have short arms and can't reach the damn information screen without really leaning forward. I still hate how cramped I feel with the high mount dash/console, and resting my arm on the door with the window down feels like I'm doing the chicken dance.

That's the way I would roll. In addition, I would want at least one Trilogy in the mix.;) :burnout::burnout:

However, it is amazing what some of these new cars can do, but they never hold their value and it's just big money down the drain, if you ask me. I just bought my wife our first GM car, no imports for me!:hotrice:

We got a 2012 Chevy Impala LT that was one year old with super low miles. She is very happy with it and it has driven flawlessly for the last year. For some reason, she didn't like the lines on the Taurus. Personally, if I was forced to get something else (for me), it would most likely be a Charger SRT or 300 SRT. I drove just an RT Charger for a few days and it was very impressive (performance wise). BTW, we are Realtors too!:beer:
 
I'm sure the Taurus SHO is a fine car. Maybe I'll rent one someday. But give me something cheap, reliable, and economical for a daily driver. And if there is room for more cars or garage queens, I'm totally old school. Give me a car built for car guys and looks distinctly American.

I'd take any number of muscle cars, classic cars, vintage police cars, etc. over a new Taurus or Taurus SHO. I guess I'm the only one still trying to hold onto Americana (or at least it feels like it since I moved to California).

My buddy has a 2010 Lincoln MKS with ecoboost. Runs great. It went 13.70's in the 1/4 mile
