Few questions I have about mods:
Difficulty Scale piece of cake 1-10 back breaking labor
1) How hard is it to change out the chip for a Reinhart chip?
2) How hard is it to change the spark plugs?
3) How hard is it to change the thermostat?
4) How hard is it to to remove the rear sub and amplifier?
5) Any one know how much of the trunk carpeting is just hallow space behind it?
6) How hard is it to change out the stock head unit for an aftermarket? Does anybody know where i can get the adapter/filler plate to take care of the empty space around it?
7)Does anybody know of places to mount stuff without drilling a ton of holes? (i.e. custom brackets or "clamps")
8) Has anybody installed a Scanner in their Marauders? If so, where and how?

By the way, I do have some knowledge about automotive mechanics and electrical workings and wirings.

Thanks in advanced, i really appreciate any input and insight you all can provide.
 
Well to me 1-4 all rated a -10 so your milage may vary.
Have you done the above tasks on other cars?
If so 1-4 should be nothing higher than a 2.
If not, putting gas in the car may rate a 10.
 
I'm used to

working on old hotrod cars, so when I opened up the hood and looked for the plugs I was a little discouraged cuz I couldn't even find them. However, I was looking in the typical places on the sides of the cylinder heads. I then began to suspect the plugs were on the top of the heads, and then somebody told me that they were, and once I looked there and found that plate that you have to remove on the top then i found it was real easy to replace te plugs. The chip isn't too bad either, but perhaps just a little time consuming. But for directions for installing a chip, just go to the top of the page here, and click on the "FAQ" link, and then on the "Modifications/Installations" link and you'll see the instructions w/pics for doing that.

I plan to mount more things into my Marauder interior as well. I'm thinking of putting a Maglight bracket in the mid-dash piece. As you may be able to see from the pictures below, I also mounted a Radio Shack handset mic bracket on the mid-dash piece as well. I DIDN'T drill into the dash. First, I bought a gray plastic cup holder that I found at Staples. I then cut out the piece of the cup holder that happened to fit the contour of my dash, then I screwed the bracket into that piece. I then used double-stick tape to adhere it to the dash.

I plan to use the same sort of technique for the Maglight holder. Right now, I have a handheld scanner in the car--I simply hooked the belt clip to the far left corner of the carpet piece near the firewall on the passenger side so at least it's hidden from view. If I decide to put a desktop scanner in as well, I was thinking of piggy-backing it to the CB radio with this industrial-strength type of Velcro we use to secure wireless mics to cameras--it's the kind with the hard plastic interlocking nubs (not the hook'n'loop kind).

I recycled these pics from an old post I had previously written in another thread. Here's where I put my CB radio, a Midland 79-290.

I secured the radio's mouting bracket with the two screws that came with the radio. The screws dug into the plastic divider material just right. Got it nice and snug (don't overtighten). Doesn't jiggle or move.

I also installed one of those cheap Radio Shack speakers for the scanner output on the windshield with double-stick tape, although the black dots make it somewhat difficult to adhere properly.

Upcoming interior mods for me include a Federal Signal LED dual rear deck light, and mounted, Plexiglas placard holders for news media credentials. Oh yeah, and the flashlight bracket, and maybe some sort of internally mounted spotlight bracket. I'm also considering augmenting the interior lighting as well with some subtle visual effects.

I'm also planning to add a full complement of Antenex-brand frequency-specific, permanent NMO-mount antennas on the trunk for my new APCO25 digital scanners. Will use chrome whips with black bases.

Hey shooter, where is the carpet cut-out? I have one on mine, but in your pic I don't see the "hole" that most of us have. What gives? did you fill it in?:confused: :confused:

Hell, RF, I'm, planning on sending SHERIFF autographed pictures of the car when I'm finished. Especially the close-ups of my ProGard PUSHBUMPER! I do like the look of black rims (but, not the steelies), but of course there are no cool ones that would fit our cars. Think I might just have the stock rims powdercoated dark gray.

Not exactly sure to what you're referring, but the carpet does sort of "end" at the forward-left part of the passenger foot well, nearest the firewall/transmission--that's where I "hooked" the belt clip of the scanner, since there's all that vacant space behind the carpet and the firewall.
