Im trying to figure out what part of the schedule Im going to have to miss so I can visit the Wood Brothers shop in Harrisburg. Who knows how much longer they will be around and since Ive been a fan since the late 60's Ive got to go there. I think I will probably skip the winery and just meet you all for lunch that day and then go with the group to RCR.

Do you have contact info for them? If not, let me know and I'll see what we can round up for you.

I thought I would give them a call a few weeks ahead of time, that week is right after the Atlanta race and they dont run again until October so it should be ok. They are a small operation NASCAR-wise and from what Ive read you can (maybe) get a guided tour around the shop. Wont know til I call, and Ill wait til August to do that. Appreciate the offer and if anybody has been by the shop in Harrisburg lately, please let me know.

I have to formulate a plan to attend this. TOO much up in the air about retirement at this point. State is trying to put through a early retirement, but our union is still in arbitration, has been for years. No contract since 2003. Last arb award was in 05. :mad2:

Ray, would love to have you guys down for this event. Let me know if you need me to write any letters to help move things along...;)

VORTEX:
If you can work out your schedule for a Wood Brothers shop side trip, wife and I would surely like to follow you. The Wood Brothers were a magical name in my earlier years. A trip to their shop would be excellent.

This itinerary looks terrific. Can't wait til September.

Last night I watched the NASCAR "Hall of Fame" Induction Ceremony for the Inaugural Class on the SPEED Channel. The building looks great inside and out. This will be a great way to spend the Saturday at MV8. Do we need to book tickets in advance? Or will that be handled through the MV8 registration process?

BTW --- the first five inductees to the NASCAR H.O.F. were Bill France, Sr., Bill France, Jr., Junior Johnson, Richard Petty and Dale Earnardt. They were selected from an initials set of 25 nominees.

Charlie, HOF tickets will be handled through the registration process.

We're working the logistics over the next few weeks, and will then post up an Eventbrite link for registration that will spell out all the details.

We're really excited about hosting MV8, I think this will be an event to remember for years to come.

HOF tickets?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!

Spoke to Kim Hall at the Wood Brothers shop this am and she said no problem on a shop visit but I think there is like a public area and a private area and right now its just the public area. If anybody else is interested, Im going to visit this shop in lieu of the winery visit (I have PM'd Rex on this and he understands for us out-of-towners this may be our only chance to do this) I plan on meeting up with the rest of the group in Lexington for lunch and the rest of the schedule. If anybody else is interested, let me know as Ill call the shop a couple of weeks in advance and give them a guesstimate on our numbers. There is no cost to visit the shop. Thanks again for all the hard work of the MMVIII planners by the way, I know its not as easy as some might think.
