This is not good for the younger folks on this sight to be seeing. Laying rubber on public streets is illegal. :nono: :censor: :banned: :P

...and it is not good for the life of your tires.

At least the BFG tires for the rear on our car are reasonably priced. I just wish there were more alternatives out there for that particular size. Goodyear, are you listening????

yeah, I hope that was a one way road, cuz if it wasn't then you could've hit into an oncoming car or something. (hint) ....

But seriously though, the first one looks decent. I noticed that the more your tires wear from previous burnouts, the lighter the marks are on the asphalt for future burnouts, even when you spin the tires really good. Having a S/Ced MM yourself, I'm sure you can relate to that. But as I looked closely at the second one, I can see three sets of strips there. So it's kinda difficult to tell where one ends, or where the other two begin and end as if though they might be overlapping.

Bill layed a nice smoker Sunday morning out on our road..under some encouragement from me of course, has to be 20 feet long before he let off, only thing is only the right tire spun? Is this because the traction control was turned off? Just curious..........Oh yeah, we live out in BFE..everybody burns rubber out on our road......

Layin rubber almost anywhere is fine w/me. I LUV it. My opening commetns were an inside joke you might say. And I might be outta the loop here on this one, but I don't know who the "Bill" is who you spoke of. But if his car is S/Ced, then I'm sure that he can leave a whole lot more than 20 feet of rubber when he wants to.

Another thing is that if someone notices that when they left rubber w/their MM, that there's only one strip instead of two then that's an indication that their "posi" (Limited slip) is gone unless it's an isolated incident. That's what happened to Dave (aka "MI2QWK4U") which he then decided to upgrade to the Eaton Limited slip differential. For me, if and when that ever happens, then I might go to a Locker rear.

Bill's my husband..driving my car, the car is stock and I wasn't sure if the car is posi or not, I wasn't in the car at the time only observing from the driveway and thought it was odd only one tire was spinning.......

Later that day I looked over the original window sticker, didn't find limited slip differential listed on it, assumed it was not on my car.

Yes the Marauders are "posi" although Ford doesn't call them that. They usually call them a "Locking" differential. So you might want to look for that. But all MM's do have them. This might simply be an isolated incident w/your car. Have you had the rear gear ratio changed? If so, then what rear gear oil was used? There's only one sure way to find out if this will be consistent w/your car. And that is to lay another strip of rubber, and make sure it's done on a level surface. I mean level as far as right to left goes. Uphill or flat is okay.

I'm not sure what you mean by "drifting". Do you mean the differential?

I think he means the crap that the ricers do with there cars in California figure 8's and such, hell we were doing that stuff 30 years ago, I'm not going to say where but it was fun.

Well I dunno if I'm too old, or too young, or it's simply the part of the country i come from or none of the above, but I never heard of this "drifting' thing. I've heard of guys doing "candy canes" and "donuts" but "drifting"? You got me? If it's something that was originally devised by drivers of wrong wheel drive cars, then I'm not interested.

but even if it's something like donuts, I'm not either. I'd luv to do a donut smoke show, but I'm sure that having your tires spinning while the front wheels are cut all the way to one side in a fixed position is murder on your rear end differential limited slip clutches and would probably destroy the Limited slip feature in short order. So when it comes to burnouts, I begin them w/the car straight. Sometimes it might fishtail a bit, but that's nothing like donuts, or doing burnouts around turns especially w/400 HP to the rear wheels.

Cars that don't have the power to perform legit burnouts in a straight line have to be taken around corners to get the tires to break loose (or atleast one tire anyway) but that's a cheap burnout at best, and you don't have to resort to that w/a S/Ced Marauder anyway.

Actually, Drifting is very popular in Japan. They use rear drive "ricers" like the RX7, 300ZX, and Skyline. Pontiac now has a GTO that is set up for the sport.

Man, makes me wish I had the space to post my BillyG style burnout from earlier in the week. I've been keeping my burnouts to once every 6 months to a year since the last set of 60,000mile tires I had lasted 20.

Hmmm... I posted some skid marks too but Logan took them down. What does he have against Fruit-of-the-Loom anyway?
