As you all know, 2011 was the last year for the large full frame rear wheel drive Crown Victoria. I decided to buy one while the getttig was good. The only option missing is the sunroof. But it's always too hot or too cold to use a sunroof where I live anyway.

Very nice. Someone was on here bragging that they are actually pretty efficient stock too.

Poor guy don't think they ever found him.

The 2011 seems to burn 50% less gas than my 2001. I drove it 40 miles home, and another 35 miles around town last night and today, and it is still sitting right up on full almost. My 2001 would have used 1/3 of a tank in the same distance. So..... it is more fuel efficient than older models.

I have the same experience with our newer CV police cars. Very good gas economy, of course we are a mix of stop and go, low speed patrol with occasional highway speeds. 60-70 MPH range. After 4 hrs the gas gage hasn't even hit the quarter mark.

Just for general interest my 09 gets around 20 mpg in the city and on the highway (at 72-74 mph with a/c) I get around 27 mpg. Not bad for a car that big.

I will also confirm the newer models got much better gas mileage for me, I rented a 2009 GMQ and was getting 22 city, 29 highway. In comparison, I get about 14 city highway mix in the marauder (50/50).

Oh yeah and nice CV! Looks great!

I had rented a 2011 Crown Vic & was :awe: at the fuel mileage it was achieving. @ 28 mpg. on the highway. :congrats: on your recent purchase.

The 2001 had hi=flo heads and a hi speed driveshaft [That what was told to me by the transit police shop in D.C. ]

Your CV looks great? Is it a Sport? What is interior?

Sports were gone pretty much after 2007. There are a few 2008's around but quite rare. I think it was mid year 2008 when all Panthers got the 17" wheels standard across the board. the CV's Got the Sport wheels. And GMQ's got Town Car Wheels with Mercury logo Centercaps.

crown vic

I was talking with an older guy one day at a fruit stand. He asked me what kind of car I had.I told him and then he proceded to show me his crown vic.Light blue.He opened the hood and it was a police intercepter motor with what looked very much like a CAI.The "computer was right there ,very easy to get at..Under the hood looked almost empty compared to the MM...Turns out he was a detective.Told me his was the under cover model.Different grill.Chrome vs. black,I think that was it..Nice guy.He opened the trunk and along with alot of radio stuff was a glock, sitting right inthe corner ready to go...

That's because they went to drive by wire, eliminates many mechanical components from what I understand. This also is what must giving these newer cars much better gas mileage.

Dang, I need to trade my 03 GM for a newer one or a newer CV.
