I spoke to cousin at Georgia State Patrol and he told me to look at this car below. He said this is very very close to what Ford's new police interceptor will be and what has been presented to them by Ford. It will only be offered to police depts. Can us civilians order one through the local Ford Dealer, Fleet Mgr? Better yet, if we could order thru the FleetMgr, could we use our Supplier/Friends/Employee Discount? We can dream, can't we? And the Optional Floor-mounted shifter?

AWD on a police service vehicle is desireable, especially here in the snow belt, but no one makes one that will hold up. We tried to purchase a Charger so equipped and were told no by Chrysler. If we bought one from a dealer in civiy clothes they wouldn't honor the warranty. Guess they have no faith in their system. My Boss hates Fords too. Our Chebys are OK, but at about 70-75k they are falling apart. CVs last well over 100k without major repairs. BUT, he still hates Fords, junk he says , some people... Still have yet to see my Durango, its a month late now. As far as price goes, when we bought the Impalas we were able to get those with everything on them, all lights (Whelen LEDS, not cheapies) siren, radio/equipment rack, cage, ect for LESS than a stripped CV, and that was state contract price on both. It was a no brainer even though the CV was a known comodity, but did I mention my Boss hates Fords?

If word gets out its AWD (or FWD) then its probably another rehash of the Taurus platform. If its RWD I bet it is a totally new design. My fingers are crossed.

Update: This artcle from Automobile magazine says it will be RWD and if thats the case I bet it is some sort of modified Falcon chassis built in the US. This is good news if true.
