New Marauder brake option

Lowndex

Post Marauder Mod Disorder
BRG Racing is in the process of creating new front and rear brake hats made of 7075 T6 billet aluminum. The custom hats allow use of Wilwood rotors and either Wilwood or Brembo monoblock calipers for 20" inch wheel applications! Using the BRG Racing brake hats and minor spindle modifications (BRG Racing can perform or you have it done), you will be able to order Wilwood rotors from major parts suppliers along with Wilwood or Brembo calipers. I chose Brembo, as the attached photo shows. KC will share a video of the spindle modifications with interested parties.

While I would have enjoyed Brembo rotors to match Brembo calipers, the amount of changes to my ride was too much at this time. It is officially a year since I started my rebuild and I did not want to wait several weeks more for Brembo rotors. In the end, I got what I wanted: stock brake parts I can order myself; anyone can order themselves.

The front hat is designed to accept 15" Wilwood rotors; the rear, 14" Wilwood rotors. This project is in design phase, so do not expect to call up BRG Racing and have brake hats shipped tomorrow. BRG Racing can share availability. As demand exists, BRG Racing may consider design of Marauder brake hats for 18" wheel applications.

What rotor is that in the picture? It looks like a one piece rotor

It is a stock rotor off a Shelby GT500 Mustang. It was used to model mounting of the Brembo calipers to measure clearance (spindle spacing, backspace, ...., things I do not understand). The information helped determine which Wilwood 15" rotor would fit: GT 60 Curved Vane Rotor. If I wanted more choices, all I need do is authorize additional shop labor $. Once a quality, readily available rotor was determined, I was happy.

Rotor Dimensions:
rotor diameter: 15"
rotor width: 1.25"
rotor bolt circle: 12 x 9.5

Please email KC@BRGRacing.com for any technical questions. As we all know, I am not qualified.

For interested parties, KC will share a video of the spindle modifications (email him). I believe the custom brake hat is the only BRG Racing proprietary part of this project.

I am fully prepared for any and all responses. I kindly ask you only contact BRG Racing if you have genuine interest in the custom brake hat and open to the required spindle modifications.

Thank you

Spindle modification..so no custom brackets needed? Did you have these modifications done? If so, more pics please. Your rotor looks like my Mustang's performance package stock rotor.

Subscribing and holding off on purchasing any brake upgrades I was planning for this spring.

BRG Racing did the modifications. BRG Racing has a video showing the spindle modifications. I will ask for pictures.

As shared with MOTOWN, the rotor is the picture is off a Shelby GT500. It was chosen to hold the purchased Brembo 15" monoblock caliper in place (see green pressure hose) so measurements could be taken toward selection of a rotor.

The goal is for our members to have more choices in their brake package.

For the 20" option, I understand some not want to modify their spindles. But, if the demand is there, BRG Racing may offer an 18" option.

Making a brake kit is easy if you're willing to lose the stock wheels and huge offset

What are you going to do, ignore reality? You can do it with the stock wheels if you widen them and use a spacer. The result is factory offset and some spoke clearance gained to fit the brakes. But really, what did that buy you? Same tall-profile tires that have performance compromises.

At some point you just have to face reality. Personally, I still have the OEM wheels squirreled away in the attic. Not sure what hoarding them will accomplish as I likely won't ever run them again given the performance difference compared to the 20's.

Not everyone wants 20" rims. Not everyone wants widened front rims with spacers. Come ride your set up on roads in the Midwest. It will ride so harsh you'll complain yet again. Wide front tires don't get it with ruts and potholes. So your solution is not the consensus fit for all owners nor is spending $6-10k for rims and brakes.

The California bay aread has some of the worst roads in the nation, it really shows up any shortcomings in suspension tuning.

At the risk of stating the obvious, if you don't want to change your car . . . don't. Nobody is holding a gun to your head. Just posting some tuning information for those who are interested. You don't need to respond if it isn't for you.

Nice what does the setup run? BTW Norcal has plenty of pot holes 580/680/99 guh...It's all relavent my Marauder on 20s on 35 series tires runs a lot more comfortable than both my MK6 GTI 18s w/40s and S197 Mustang on 19s w/ 40s.

I honestly do not know. You see, I am paying for BRG Racing shop time to make my brake dream a reality. What you need is the price for the brake hat alone. Please email KC and ask him.

The spindle modifications can be performed by BRG Racing, a competent garage or yourself. This is why KC will has a video he will share with interested parties.

For 18" customers, KC will inherit my 18 wheels and tires. If there is enough interest, he may design, build and offer a brake hat for 18" Marauder customers.

Another member telling me go 20s. Sold!
