OEM Ford rotors - quality part, or foreign junk?

So many rotor and pad choices, I'm not a big fan of drilled and slotted unless you pay for top quality = big bucks.
For street duty replacements on a budget - go for lower price solid rotor, or is a few extra bucks for OEM parts worth it?

At my shop we use NAPA's Ultra Premium or their Reactive One rotors. We have had great luck with both. NEVER use the cheaper ones.
 
I shopped around and ended up going with Raybestos Advance Technology (slotted) rotors. Napa sells the same exact ones. I bought all the rotors and matching Raybestos pads off Amazon. Here is my thread on them http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=88481

Had them on since August and have been happy with them. Didn't fix my low pedal feel but they bite hard, low noise and the pads give off a lot less dust than napa ceramic pads I had on before.

Well, they're mighty heavy and seem plenty thick enough. The polymer coating "burns off" where the pads contact...I believe it's there more to help protect the rest of the rotor from corrosion.
 
Prefect timing for this thread.. I have been looking for rotors and loaded calipers.. I was thinking about R1 rotors and high performance pads.. but I dont want the dust.. 62000 mi on Oe pads.. no dust at all.. So how is the dust on the Raybestos pads?
 
The few times I've seen the car in the last couple of months, it doesn't appear there's any dust issue...if that's wrong, Mary can enlighten us.

I've had minimal dust show up after about 1000 miles, it really depends on how much driving you do and whether you are braking a lot. I've been doing about 1000 mi a month with a lot of stop and go traffic so I expected there to be some brake dust. It really does not bother me as once or twice a week I wipe my wheels off anyways.

To me at least I see less brake dust with the Raybestos pads than compared to the oem rotors and napa ceramic pads I had on before. The S-groove slots in the rotors may be helping with that also.

Drilling and slotting aren't important for street use although some like the appearance. Metallurgy and annealing (heat treating) are what set good rotors apart.
 
I went with Frozen Rotors brand cryo treated slotted but hate the Hawk pads I got. Will be swaping the pads for something that actually grip in the Spring.
 
Just had my brake motive parts installed today big difference in stopping power ,good looks,we will see about long term results.
 
I don't no about for you guys in the states but here in Canada if you buy motorcraft pads they are replaced for free every time they wear out for as long as you own the vehicle. That's the route I go for brake pads every time.
