OHH BABY, perfect....Magnaflows installed

Jim_Rockford

Hater of the flowmaster......
Installed em in place of the stockers, no cats where harmed in the process and all resonators where left in place to provide this perfect balance of sound. Pardon the goofy announcer.

I know the J mod and a tune is next.
Man it hurt to watch him hack up this perfect stock exhaust. But once I saw the restriction on the outlet of the stockers I was glad I did.

Its quiet as a stock car when you are cruising and that is what I was after.

Yea 04 sport. I couldn't pass these mufflers up, a guy had em for sale on the vic forums for $100 shipped from FLA said they where too loud on his 06 after he removed the rear cats..lol prolly don't have 200 miles on em. My buddy there charged me 50 bucks to slip em on.

If I had that kind of cash I'd probably spend it on upgrading a Caprice or something. :D

But all the guys on here say you only lose 2-3 hp with a stock muffler because the father of Marauders says they are extremely free flowing (slight note of sarcasm).

Can you show a pic of what the oem muffler outlet looks like?

Gum Spring is about 1/2 way between Richmond and charlottesville. I'm sure you guys noticed the Lt1 caprice vids too..lol, I think when i get it running next month, I might sell it and supercharge the vic. I can't be having 2-3 projects..lol

Looks good Jim! Any DRONE/Resonance at any RPM?

Also what is the Magnaflow partnumber? They look a bit shorter than factory (re: the added pipe)

They are the 14inch case 2 1/4 in and out mufflers, who ever took em off lopped a good bit off the rear exit, but did happen to leave enough to be able to use, I got the fair pics of the restrictions in the stock mufflers other than the basic restrictive path , but they are about 1/2 way in and it was kinda hard to get a pic, but I'll post it up in a bit.

Who's "the father of Marauders"?......

Underside not MM!

For folks who do not know the underside of a MM - the above car is a CV not MM. The mufflers on a CV are different then the better flowing MM OEM mufflers. The tailpipes in the photos have resonators - MM have none in the tailpipes. Therefore any OEM MM muffler comments are null and void.

Also, as 99% of all faithful MM owners know the "Father of the MM" is Steve Babcock. :bows:

Tell em Glenn...............:banana2:

Here's a comparo of Sanco's 2004 P71 and my 2002 P71. Neither car has resonators, mine on the left (and the first one you hear) has Magna Flow high flow cats (all 4 of them),stock H pipe and Magna Flow mufflers.
Sanco's,on the right, has stock cat's with 2 1/2" pipes and X pipe with Magna Flow mufflers.
I think the difference in sound probably boils down to the choice of H pipe vs X pipe as I think the amount of restriction is probably close to the same.
