OHH BABY, perfect....Magnaflows installed

Cool thanks for the info Jim. 1 7/8 is pretty small. They look kind of like turbo mufflers.

I want to find a good set of stainless turbo mufflers (a real 2.25" )to replace them with.

Wow. That pic makes me want to chuck my stock mufflers even though I'm NA. They are basically a crap passenger car pass tube muffler. I was under the mistaken belief that Ford had some magic hiding inside these mufflers! Thank you so much for taking the time to cut them open and post pictures! My original plan was to re make the stock h pipe in 2.25 stainless instead of the 2" pinch bent stainless that it is from the factory, then use a quality stainless mufler, and keep the stock 2.25" tails. Might have to get that plan back on track.

Stop saying turbo mufflers there is no such thing unless you are referring to OEM turbo corvair mufflers!

DynoMax makes a super turbo, I run them.

Yeah I know I'm just giving a hard time, slow day at work. I have run super turbos in a 383 powered Dodge charger and they droned SOOOOOO bad I couldn't carry a conversation in the car. How are they on your car?

I ran super turbos (dynomax) before going to the Magnaflows. They sounded great outside the car, but droned noticeably INSIDE the cabin.

0 drone, they are super quiet, car is almost silent until I get on it so I like em. The 3" exhaust could make the difference, dunno. I had planned on making a vid from inside, but my camera took a poop.

"Turbo" as it relates to a muffler construction, typically has 3 pipes which are perforated and offset from one another. They are not straight through (which spit, crackle and cough) which is not what I want.

Both Dynomax and Magnaflow (two large manufacturers - Walker the company that makes the p71 mullfers) have this turbo design.

My straight through dynomax ultraflow on my wifes ZR2 doesn't snap of crackle any ..lol
Neither do my magnaflows on the vic.

Those sound great! I have a custom Jardine cat back w/ x-pipe on my CV Sport, and man, they drone sooooo badly. It drives me nuts.

You do realize that the pic he showed was of a muffler from his Crown Vic, right? There is still no concrete evidence (that I read, anyways) that proves the Marauder and Vic use the same muffler. They may, they may not (according to the posts in this thread). I'd sure like to find out, though, especially before spending lots of money on your orginal exhaust plan.

Anyone have an old Marauder muffler they can cut open to compare it against the Vic one?

Asked and answered long ago, these were posted on the "other" site back in 2007:

Exhaust is straight out of the back, and you have larger tailpipes after the mufflersm and the Cone tips tend to amplify the note.
