overheating problem

Every ****ing winter, the damn temp gauge creeps up to the line right before the red. Had the head gasket replaced 2 years ago and it STILL did it. I've bled the damn thing over 2 dozen times and it's only a matter of time. I can tell when it's going to overheat because of the way the engine sounds. Now what's weird is while it's running hot, if i give it wide open throttle a couple times, I'll smell the heat come on and it'll return to normal temp. It might creep up a couple more times, then it'll stay in the normal range until the next thing i drive it. I ****ING HATE THESE ENGINES!!! I was reading that they're known to leak underneath the intake manifold... Anybody have any experience with that fix?

Don't know about leaking under the intake but yours sounds like a classic "air in the system" problem!!

I've had mine 14 years and over 270K miles and it's NEVER done what you describe!!:shake:

Get the air out and you should be OK if the rest of the cooling system is up to par!!
