Panther owners, are figuring out how to STICK it to the competition

Hey guys, I used to post and follow here really avidly, but lately I have been trying to develop a line of panther performance parts (starting with the crown victoria and grand marquis since we need more help than you guys), and I am in the process of converting my 2002 LX sport over to a 5 speed manual (6 speed to follow later). The biggest hurdle has been the pedal assembly, as I have the same mobile pedals that you guys have. I recently pulled a fixed pedal assembly from out of a crown victoria base model in the jy, and have modified it by welding up the clutch pedal tube from a fox chassis pedal assembly. The pedal angle is good in the shop floor, and I will be installing it next weekend. I guess I am going to have a 4 speed auto floor shift with a dead clutch pedal for a little bit. That being the biggest hurdle, I will let you in on the details of the rest of the swap. I have a 1998 T-45 from out of a 98 cobra, I have a new driveshaft yoke, I have a king cobra clutch assembly, and a pro 5.0 shifter. I plan on reusing my stock LX sport console (as it appears I will simply be able to remove the shifter and plate assembly from mine and place a leather shifter boot there), for an extremely factory look. I will keep you guys updated, and I hope to have pics of the pedals uploaded by as early as sunday evening. Thought I would let you know, since I know a few of you were interested in a stick option, and the process would be identical for your cars.

Why don't you contact the Bodurant Driving School ???

A few years back, they had some CVs with the DOHC 4.6 and 6 speed trannies.
They will probably be able to to offer to you what was done for the makeup of those cars,
unless they were test vehicles for FORD and the School was privy to use them.

They were built by Roush and I believe they were 5 speeds...

BTW, sweet ride LightningVic. Looks like you've put some hard work into your car and the 1/4 #'s show.

I was thinking the same thing the other day on how hard would it be to put a stick in the panthers. Guess you'll tell us in due time.

haha, He and I are in good contact, I am using his model for the pedal assembly in fact, however the rest of the stuff is going to be custom to my car, and coincidentally the marauder :). Thanks for the advice though
 
also, at first I was intimidated by the task of converting the car over since it was never offered with a stick, but the more time I spend under the dash and under the car the easier I realize it will be. To make it easier, I may start selling modified pedal assemblies with the clutch attached already, and offer it as a unit ready to bolt in. The rest of the swap is fairly easy. With the exception of cutting a hole in the floor for the shifter, If you can change out a clutch and pull a flywheel for resurfacing, than you can tackle the rest of the swap. Even the stock crossmember should be usable in this case without too much modification.

How are you going to work around the Computer operation of the stock trans?
Will the car run without any fancy footwork in the computer?

by putting black tape over my check engine light haha j/k. Initially the car will throw codes, however a tune can turn off all of the lights by deactivating the auto trans fuction in the ECM. Untill I do that It will just throw a trouble light, but it won't stop you from enjoying the hell out of itin the mean time.
