Question for the Chicago Guys

Kenny's car

Junior Member
Back in the '70s I remember hearing of late night street racing somewhere in the Chicago area, not unsual but this involved big cars (Caddy's, Pontiac Grand Prix's, Lincolns, etc) doing a flying mile at very high speed. Seems to me that I heard a very famous mechanic (Chi-Town Hustler, initials being AC) maybe was involved in the fun. Don't know if it was real or just an urban myth, anyone have any info as tto whether this was for real or not?

Sgt. Mac,
Could he be talking about Doty Rd? Thats your old stompin' ground. The youngsters with imports are tearing it up these days. They line the street like in "The Fast and Furious". A coulple of months ago a 10-96 elderly female creamed about 30 imports as she bounced from side to side. Good job!!!!!!!!

Sarge,
Something about the MM reminded me of that story, I heard that these races advanced to a point where these big cars were going really fast (150 mph maybe?), and had lots of horspower. Austin Coil and other locals supposedly put together some wild machines like 600+ HP Caddys in the mid to late '70s. I dont know where they raced but it was reputed to be a late night thing, wherever it was there must have been long stretches of straight road. I just was never sure if the stories were true or not, now I know! thanks.

Could bt Doty, I have been there a few times ... we won't let people know that ... but I could see that being the place.

LoL, I have been hiding around a little bit, SergntMac is the one who told me about it a while back.
